The difference between this year and last year is that Apple knew from the get-go that this one would be online. Lots of experience with this format as well. This is going to be great. Just over two months away. https://twitter.com/...

If you use the Apple Developer app on macOS, I recommend you check the App Store for an update - one just shipped with big improvements for larger displays. Here's a comparison of the before and after 🎉 https://twitter.com/...

Apple just announced WWDC 2021 will take place June 7th to 11th. - 100% online (no surprises there). Will be interesting to see what Apple does for WWDC 2022. - The dates are back to normal. June 7th is the first Monday in June. Last year, WWDC was later - June 22th to 26th. http…

I do think Apple will eventually bring back an in-person WWDC. It's tough to replace the face-to-face interactions. They would likely look to evolve the conference so that the positives associated with online (like greater accessibility for developers) remain going forward.

I have no special insight into Apple's plans, but I hope these new ways of interaction include the chalk talks that were so popular previously - a way for a group of folks to ask questions direct to engineers and hear all the responses, like group labs. Here's @UINT_MIN at WDC19!…

I'm convinced Apple is trolling us with event dates this year. They announced WWDC 2021 EXACTLY 69 DAYS before it's happening. https://twitter.com/...

@deirdresm @jonk I would say no. That the artists who made these not only have no idea what Apple's glasses will look like, but they have no idea whether or when they're being announced. The art direction was just “show the screen reflecting in eyeglasses”.

No one asked, but here are a few things I'd love to see at #WWDC21: - Dynamic Type on macOS - Automatic subtitles for all audio system-wide - A weather API using Apple's Dark Sky acquisition - Pull to refresh and alert text fields in SwiftUI - Completely reimagined documentation

So Apple announced WWDC. If next year Apple is really launching head-mounted displays that will do some form of VR/AR then it needs to get developers on board this year. I am expecting WWDC to be a lot more important than it looks today. That is why I started @AppleXRStrategy

Apple announces another 100% virtual WWDC, which comes as no surprise. It'll be surprising if WWDC 2022 is anything like the pre-pandemic variety. Apple will have gotten really REALLY good at doing it remotely and won't do anything that feels like a backwards step.
