Apple has officially announced WWDC 2021.  This year, the conference will take place completely virtually starting June 7.  This marks the second year in a row that Apple …

The difference between this year and last year is that Apple knew from the get-go that this one would be online. Lots of experience with this format as well. This is going to be great. Just over two months away. https://twitter.com/...

If you use the Apple Developer app on macOS, I recommend you check the App Store for an update - one just shipped with big improvements for larger displays. Here's a comparison of the before and after 🎉 https://twitter.com/...

It's the second reflection on the eyeballs from lens that's the real nudge. https://twitter.com/...

Apple officially announces virtual WWDC 2021 - June 7 to 10 Looks like an AR Glasses reference to me 😄 https://twitter.com/...

@Scobleizer @AppleXRStrategy The engine folks will be the first ones to know... unless Apple is going to do that too.

WWDC21 Swift Student Challenge applications are open! Apply by April 18 for an opportunity to be selected as one of this year's winners. #AppleDeveloper #WWDC21 #SwiftStudentChallenge https://developer.apple.com/ ...

Apple just announced WWDC 2021 will take place June 7th to 11th. - 100% online (no surprises there). Will be interesting to see what Apple does for WWDC 2022. - The dates are back to normal. June 7th is the first Monday in June. Last year, WWDC was later - June 22th to 26th. http…

    AR glasses confirmed!!!!!1 https://twitter.com/...

I do think Apple will eventually bring back an in-person WWDC. It's tough to replace the face-to-face interactions. They would likely look to evolve the conference so that the positives associated with online (like greater accessibility for developers) remain going forward.
  • @twostraws Paul Hudson on x
I have no special insight into Apple's plans, but I hope these new ways of interaction include the chalk talks that were so popular previously - a way for a group of folks to ask questions direct to engineers and hear all the responses, like group labs. Here's @UINT_MIN at WDC19!…

I'm convinced Apple is trolling us with event dates this year. They announced WWDC 2021 EXACTLY 69 DAYS before it's happening. https://twitter.com/...
  • @jcfordee John Forde on x
@twostraws I don't seem to have that update available yet. I did get an email, and they changed the image to 8 JUN, because I am in that timezone: https://twitter.com/...

I can't help but feel like the glasses reflecting the app icons is some kind of hint towards AR interfaces. https://twitter.com/...

@deirdresm is that the picture you got? this is what i got https://twitter.com/...

@anjin_games @AppleXRStrategy Unity is building stuff for the Apple headset that is pretty sick. Right on.

That “Learn More” link in the WWDC email sends my machine in an infinite loop bouncing back and forth between Safari and the Apple Developer App.

In 2017 I participated in the WWDC Student Challenge, this scholarship helped me start my career at Apple. This is an amazing opportunity for those looking to join Apple 🍎 https://developer.apple.com/ ...

@settern At least once a month I think to myself, “I should start a website listing all of Apple's ridiculously good taglines over the years.” 🥲

I noticed a sudden increase in my Apple Card credit limit. It's prepping for WWDC.
  • @scobleizer @scobleizer on x
@leguilloux I love all these hints. Everything Apple does is very deliberate.
  • @gruber John Gruber on x
@deirdresm @jonk I would say no. That the artists who made these not only have no idea what Apple's glasses will look like, but they have no idea whether or when they're being announced. The art direction was just “show the screen reflecting in eyeglasses”.
  • @twostraws Paul Hudson on x
No one asked, but here are a few things I'd love to see at #WWDC21: - Dynamic Type on macOS - Automatic subtitles for all audio system-wide - A weather API using Apple's Dark Sky acquisition - Pull to refresh and alert text fields in SwiftUI - Completely reimagined documentation

#Apple #WWDC going all virtual again this year! Apple has a worldwide developer community of more than 28 million 👩‍💻 But any surprises like an updated #iphoneSE #AppleWatch #AppStore generated more than $75bln in sales in 2020 according to 1 analysis https://www.apple.com/...

So Apple announced WWDC. If next year Apple is really launching head-mounted displays that will do some form of VR/AR then it needs to get developers on board this year. I am expecting WWDC to be a lot more important than it looks today. That is why I started @AppleXRStrategy
  • @ihnatko Andy Ihnatko on x
Apple announces another 100% virtual WWDC, which comes as no surprise. It'll be surprising if WWDC 2022 is anything like the pre-pandemic variety. Apple will have gotten really REALLY good at doing it remotely and won't do anything that feels like a backwards step.

WWDC 2021: June 7-11, all-online like last year. (The right call, for sure.) Sad to see no @pschiller quotes from the roof. End of an era. https://www.apple.com/...
