New story: Apple is set to reveal its first Macs with its own chips on Nov. 10, replacing Intel. The the first ones: 13-inch MacBook Air, and 13 and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Also in the works: a redesigned iMac, new Mac mini and a half-sized Mac Pro https://www.bloomberg.com/...

What I'm watching for with Apple Silicon Macs: if they will offer multiple processor speed, graphics chips, and RAM options like they do with Intel Macs — or if it will be all standardized like iPhones and iPads. I'd guess CPU and GPU won't be customizable, but perhaps RAM will.

In a kind of side step to @markgurman's Mac Pro information, people may be worried about the new version with Apple Silicon replacing the Intel versions existing now Good news, they aren't planning on that any time soon

So if they have the same designs... what will be Apple's big picture pitch? Will it be that they're just faster and more efficient? Three computers that look the same but have new chips don't seem like enough to justify using “one more thing...” https://twitter.com/...

@IssaAnchorBaby @migueldeicaza Yawn. Apple is in a league all by itself. They don't have any competition when it comes to CPU performance. They'll do whatever they want, but it won't be constrained by technology

Kind of happy that I went with the Intel 16 inch a few months ago. I'll use this thing heavily for the coming 3 - 4 years and then jump into one of the at-that-time-latest Apple-Chip Macbooks <3 https://twitter.com/...

Every year I would tweet asking Apple to do the thing that they should do at WWDC (announce a transition to Arm). This year, they finally did it. Next week, my money is on they blow everyone out of the water. All these suggestions that they'll go wimpy Air first aren't Apple bold

@stroughtonsmith I don't think that makes sense, there's very little point in making anything that's even close to half the size of a Mac Pro if you aren't going to allow PCIe expansion. Might as well target a Mini form factor.

Apple's switch to Apple Silicon Macs is deeper than its own ambition to be a chip designer. This — along with the shift from Intel modems to Qualcomm this year - is partly because of Intel's steep technological decline. Story with @debbywuintaipei https://www.bloomberg.com/...

It sounds unlikely, but I wish there would be a new Apple TV at the Apple Event next week, prior to the introduction of the first Apple Silicon Mac(s). Just like the HomePod mini set the stage for new iPhones. Again, rumors have mostly pointed towards 2021, but I can wish!

With Nov. 10 Apple Mac (no doubt) launch, I expect Apple will start dispelling the huge clouds of performance uncertainty for its own Arm chips ("Apple silicon"). Faster chips = faster transition off Intel. Solid set of software companies already on board. https://www.cnet.com/..…
