the new 14-inch M3 MacBook Pro is $1499 for education customers and imo that makes it the very best deal you can get in a MacBook for students who want a laptop that lasts at least four years

the hilarious part about the new base model 14" with the M3 is that it:  —  A) comes with 8GB of RAM for $1600 frigging bucks  —  and  —  B) only supports one external display, despite having four ports capable of outputting to a screen (three USB-C and an HDMI)  —  and …

IMO, this is the minimum base model for the new M3 MacBook Pro. You need at least 16 gigabytes of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage for a Pro laptop, meaning at least $2,400 [image]

BREAKING: Apple has secretly increased the price of the 16" MacBook Pro with the fully unlocked M3 Max CPU. It now costs $3,999 compared to $3,499 on the M2 Max model because it now comes binned down to 14-cores.. It also REQUIRES the 48GB of RAM upgrade. $500 increase! [image]

Happen to be heading to Tokyo next week, so looked up the price differential of one of the newly announced M3 Macbook Pro. A 16inch MBP with M3 Pro here starts at €3099. In Japan, it's Y398,800. At today's rate, that's €2481. It's €618 cheaper. 😲

the “Space Black”, which is only available on the M3 Pro and M3 Max models, sorry cheapskates!, is kind of black in person, but not as dark as the old plastic BlackBook.  —  the new anodization is supposed to reduce fingerprints, and in the 30 seconds I got to touch one earlier t…

The base model M3 MacBook Pro not only has one less USB-C port but it also only has Thunderbolt 3 while the M2 Pro and M3 Pro MacBook Pro machines have Thunderbolt 4. While they have the same 40Gb/s speed Thunderbolt 4 requires support for 2 displays and Apple's M3 only supports.…

Very clear the new M3 Macs aren't aimed directly at Mac users still with Intel-based machines, not customers with M2 or even M1 Macs to upgrade.

Congratulations Apple, you've convinced me to replace a $4000 2-year old laptop that I adore because it's available in space black. Damn you!

Wow, my M1 MBP is gonna get slapped with this 😂 128GB of Unified memory. Brought down from the Mac Studio down to MBP. Wow. Can support FOUR displays. Lol, same performance on the plug or off “unlike PC's.” She's not wrong. Up to 22 Hours of Battery life. #AppleEvent [image]

The funny thing with the configurator is that if you upgrade the 14-inch MBP from the base M3 Pro to the base M3 Max chip, it says ‘+£600’, but the cost actually goes up £1000 because you also have to have a bigger base DRAM spec, which is +£400. [image]

Apple is comparing literally everything to the M1 series, which seems a bit strange considering they launched M2 MacBook Pros in January? Are they just trying to make the gains seem larger?
  • @vadimyuryev Vadim Yuryev on x
Fun Fact: The NEW Base- model 14" MacBook Pro with M3 chip comes with 512GB of SSD storage. This means that Apple's single-chip NAND issues on the M2 MacBook Pro are now FIXED! We should definitely expect 2x NAND Flash storage chips. Bravo on fixing this, Apple! [image]
