In handing AI to software chief Craig Federighi, Apple has turned to one of its most dependable executives. But it could backfire if AI becomes the defining tech in consumer devices, leaving Apple dependent on Google and others. @aatilley @theinformation https://www.theinformatio…

The race to Jarvis continues. Code name ‘Campos’ -> Apple plans to revamp Siri this fall in iOS 27 and macOS 27 by turning it into the company's first AI chatbot, replacing the current Siri interface “The chatbot — code-named Campos — will be embedded deeply into the iPhone, [ima…

What got leaked by Apple today (a pin with two cameras) sounds a lot like what I predicted @sama was building, coming later this year. That prediction is here. My video is worth watching if you missed it last September. It is a voxel ingestion machine. If I wore one and you

Very good to see some product innovation from Apple... but also kind of wild to see them pick up the one product which failed so badly 🤷

Apple just told you they're two years behind the one form factor that actually works. Meta shipped 4 million AI glasses in 2025 and owns 80% of the market. Sales tripled year over year. The Ray-Ban Display version sold out in 48 hours. EssilorLuxottica's stock hit all-time highs

the only way an Apple pin or “communicator” makes any sense to me is if it's similar to the 6th gen nano but paired to your iPhone with eyes and ears basically just a modern iPod that works sort of like an Apple Watch you just wear differently

Former Apple employees launch company to make AI pin, flame out in the most public way (I say with empathy, building things is incredibly difficult even with established technologies and products), and now Apple is making its own AI pin, I assume powered by Gemini. Fun.

Think about it this way, Google is monetizing Gemini (service) via shopping, taking a commission from recommended products.  That's how all of these shopping products work.  These aren't ads, these are just the same as any website recommending products.  If you use Apple's versio…

The Siri chatbot is known internally as Campos. It'll be likely be powered by Gemini running on Google's own TPUs and cloud infrastructure, meaning it's a far more powerful model than the one coming to Siri this spring and running on Apple's servers.
  • @markgurman Mark Gurman on x
Apple was previously reluctant and intentionally shied away from launching a chatbot, saying in interviews that it wasn't interested in the concept. But ChatGPT, now with well over 800 million users, and Gemini proved that Apple needed to quickly move in this direction.
