MacBook Pro 16" (M5 Max) review: “Super core” architecture and 40-core GPU deliver beastly performance, but still retains a five-year-old design

Outstanding  —  THE BOTTOM LINE  —  Pros & Cons  — “Super core” architecture delivers incredible performance

Here's my M5 Max report, it's a wonderful chip. The idle is lower than M4 Max while the peak performance is even higher. AI performance is, as you would expect, very very good. I think this is the best laptop SoC on the market, which is no surprise. https://creativestrategies.com/ ...

Hell ya We need more low-volume ultra premium stuff on the market. I hope we see it on the iPhone, Mac, etc. Something should be accessible to everyone, but there's also an itch for just more which the more accessible pro devices haven't scratched recently

Thoughts on the MacBook Neo, as Apple expands its superpremium tier via “Ultra” products; sources say Apple plans to 3D-print aluminum for the Watch and iPhone

Apple has taken the wraps off its $599 MacBook Neo, entering new territory in a way that could shake up the computer market.

@lafaiel yup, here's some cyberpunk in gaming it's easily RTX 5080/5090M performance, without AI upscaling [image]

You'll have more M5 Max stuff from me once ChatGPT makes this stupid chart (it's been running for 10 minutes) but it's extremely good. The idle package power on this thing averages like under 1W even without efficiency cores [image]

One of the most impressive parts is the Apple Silicon transition on macOS is what made this possible Without that integration years ago, this price, performance, and experience wouldn't be possible

MacBook Neo is real! It uses A18 Pro, comes in 4 colors, and starts at $599 for 256GB. The 512GB is a little more, but comes with TouchID It runs the same macOS as normal, so Xcode, Final Cut Pro, etc all work no problem. And education pricing (not student discount) is $499

On the 8GB MacBook Neo, Apple has some of the best swap on any machine. It's where it offloads the data from memory into flash storage and back so you don't fill your ram. Apple's swap on macOS and Apple silicon is best in industry because of their storage speed + software

It looks like with M5 Pro/Max they changed the cores a bit, the super core is the same actual performance core for M5, which was also changed to be called the super core The performance cores in M5 Pro/Max are new performance cores designed specifically for multi-threaded work
