What to expect from Apple's Unleashed event on Monday: 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros with mini-LED, AirPods 3, redesigned Mac mini, and macOS Monterey launch

Apple's first fall event of 2021 focused on the iPhone and the Apple Watch, but the second, set to be held on Monday, October 18, is expected to be Mac-centric.

Oh no. Why is the new MacBook Pro screen notched? https://twitter.com/...

Apple Event Monday!! By (no) coincidence next week is also the 30th Anniversary of Mac PowerBook launch at Comdex Las Vegas (last one in October and my first one!) 🚀 PowerBook *redefined* portables. It also solidified the Apple design group. What a story of innovation💡 1/ https:/…

Just to reiterate, AirPods 3 will have a similar design to that of AirPods Pro, just without ear tips. Tips were shown to be an optional attachment on an early prototype, but recent leaks do not show these tips so it's likely that they aren't coming.

“Big things” is an interesting phrase for Apple to be using in its promotional posts for next week's event https://twitter.com/...

Don't think I've seen the Apple rumor mill explode like this before an #AppleEvent since the iPhone X was launched in 2017 🤯

Let's Discuss About MacBook Pro! The new MacBook Pro models are expected to have a completely new design. They will also have more I/O ports like the HDMI port and SD Card Slot. There are also rumors of the MagSafe charger returning to the MacBook. #AppleEvent Pls Check Part 2! h…

Exclusive: Apple stores are reportedly receiving new chargers in stock for new MacBook Pros. I expect they'll be available to preorder this Friday 😃

M1X MacBook Pro might be the first slam-dunk must-buy Apple product since the iPhone X for me. I am pretty hyped for this #AppleEvent

old display technology including LCD, thick bezels & 60hz, 720P webcam, slow Intel chips that overheat, fan noise, low GPU power, battery life, etc.) Apple is essentially making the PERFECT laptop to satisfy EVERYONE at once.. = Market Dominance! Video: https://www.youtube.com/..…

In the “Before Times” I'd be really excited to see a new Macbook Pro on Monday. Today... I just want a faster MacMini to add to my growing collection. It's amazing how the M1 transformed this little utility mac into a full fledged computer.
  • @stroughtonsmith Steve Troughton-Smith on x
Some of the MBP rumors are now talking about 32-p-core configurations, which is a monstrous leap from the four cores in the current M1. Maybe a little fanciful, but even 8 or 16 cores would be a huge upgrade
  • @marks_tech @marks_tech on x
Oh. I thought Face ID was gonna be hidden within the bezels. This just looks dumb. A finger print sensor works just fine without having a notch. https://twitter.com/...
  • @snazzyq Quinn Nelson on x
We're over here arguing about notch vs no notch on the new MacBook Pros when what we should be worried about is if they're gonna start shipping late December or sooner.

Please put better mics on the new AirPods so I can actually hear what my friends say on the phone
  • @vadimyuryev Vadim Yuryev on x
If the M1X MacBook Pros actually get 120hz ProMotion displays, then this confirms my theory: Apple is fixing all complaints that people had with the 2016 redesign all in a single release to swoop in and DOMINATE the laptop market. (Lack of ports & MagSafe, Touch Bar, ... (1/2)
  • @vadimyuryev Vadim Yuryev on x
Alright so we've got leaks and rumors of a notch on the M1X MacBook Pros display, and apparently the chips might actually be called M1 Pro and M1 Max.. and that's coming from Mark Gurman! I'm done lol don't know what to think.. See you all during the event.

All of the decisions about 2021 MacBook Pro “notches, ports, chipset SKU, etc. were settled a long, long time ago so mostly these are just really interesting looks at when (and where) this stuff leaks (and, after tomorrow, how accurately!) https://twitter.com/...

AirPods Mini are on sale in China, they seem to be a scaled-down version of the AirPods Pro. Would you buy them? https://twitter.com/...
  • @rsgnl Joe Rossignol on x
I just have this hunch that the Mac Pro will be the only Intel-based Mac remaining after this #AppleEvent. The high-end 13" MacBook Pro goes 14" + Apple Silicon, 16" goes Apple Silicon, high-end Mac mini goes Apple Silicon, and 27" iMac goes 32" + Apple Silicon.
  • @reneritchie Rene Ritchie on x
Some people are worried about the lack of discreet AMD GPUs in M1X MacBooks Pro... I'm excited about 32/64GB of Unified Memory feeding 16/32 Apple graphics cores with dedicated perf and ML controllers, and accelerator blocks... Faster horses! 🚀 https://www.youtube.com/...
  • @nirave @nirave on x
Whether it looks like this or not, it won't matter. Given the internals will be the big change, everyone is going to buy one regardless of what it actually looks like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ https://twitter.com/...

October 25, 1991: Apple introduced its first ever notebook computer, the PowerBook. Exactly 30 years later, I'm expecting Apple to make available one of the biggest updates in the history of Mac notebooks—the redesigned MacBook Pro. Looking forward to the #AppleEvent on Monday!
  • @jioriku @jioriku on x
No tips. I got some images from someone months ago that did show the tips, but Apple went without them from the latest images I have. Also, backing Dylan here in that they should be coming on Monday at the event Wallets ready people! https://twitter.com/...

21/ This really capped off the second peak period for Apple (and high water mark for share). One thing I observed going to MacWorld was that the Apple community drove those sales, but the community was not growing. Every Mac owner bought a PowerBook, but few new to Mac buyers.
  • @stevesi Steven Sinofsky on x
23/ But then came a transition to Intel and the MacBook Air. It didn't matter that there were many PCs smaller/ lighter (including from SONY!) and many that fit in a yellow envelope. Apple had made significant improvements in OS s/w. And like PowerBook redefined a form factor. ht…

So is this where they are going to put all the notches they'll be taking out from iPhone 14? 😅 https://twitter.com/...
  • @viditb Vidit Bhargava on x
I doubt there's going to be any notch, Apple design avoids it if it can and the iPad sized bezels would fit right into a display that's 14.9" and still feel pretty edge to edge. https://twitter.com/...

I'm now pretty convinced that the MacBook Pro is getting a notch; this lines up exactly with yesterday's report. No Face ID - but expect the bezels to be very slim if this is right. I think it's now pretty clear what the controversy with these new machines is likely going to be..…

Maybe the notch can be disabled with a Terminal hack? Right?? 🙃 https://twitter.com/...
  • @reneritchie Rene Ritchie on x
I've been saying — and making mockups! — for years that I'll take a notch if it means thin bezels and a 1080p webcam So, yeah, if there's even a shred of truth to this rumor, you can totally blame me. Zero regrets. Love. Up. 🤘 https://twitter.com/... https://twitter.com/...

Apple's next event is called “Unleashed”. The Brazilian translation became something like “The beasts are at large”. I think the local Wildlife Service got a bit confused by that, because the iPad mini that I ordered from the US is currently being inspected by them. 🐯

November event was 100% pure M1. ‘M1X’ event is rumored to include AirPods 3 AirPods haven't been in an event since the OG in 2016. (Pro 7 Max were PR). So what would get AP3 stage time again? New software features were already announced at WWDC... Big mainstream holiday push?

2 new chips imply that 14 get Pro and 16 get Max? Specs in both devices not the same as previously speculated? Or 14/16 get Pro but can be upgraded to Max? Or 13 gets a bump (after less than a year) to Pro and 14/16 get Max? WHAT DOES IT MEAN https://twitter.com/...
