MWC bans visitors from China's Hubei province and will require those who have been to China prove they were outside the country for 14 days before the event

A couple of weeks out, Mobile World Congress organizer, the GSMA, has issued some fairly sweeping safeguards over growing concerns around the coronavirus.

Latest on MWC: nobody from Hubai province allowed, and anyone who has been in China will need proof they have been outside of China 14 days prior to MWC (i.e., leave China today if you want to attend). Also lots of Purell.

I have sympathy with the GSMA. Of course I do. I'm still planning to go to attend MWC. But as per these new rules: how will it know who has been in China? https://www.gsma.com/...

New restrictions for #MWC20 from GSMA. Travellers need to prove they have been outside China 14 days (and are not coming from Hubei), and self-certify they have not been in contact with anyone infected. Temperature screening to be implemented. ‍♂ ️ https://www.gsma.com/...

And how many would-be #MWC20 attendees from China already had airlines cancel their flights days ago? https://twitter.com/...

Well, this is bad. The show is now very clearly under threat of collapse. I think it's more likely than not it will still go on, but there's a real danger of cancellation now. https://twitter.com/...

MWC is going to feel like a small show. The number of attendees from China will be minuscule if GSMA enforces these rules, and many others will stay away out of fear.

IMO the only thing that could get MWC cancelled at this point is protests in the city of Barcelona related to coronavirus. No sign of any public unrest at this time, and WHO is reporting a decline in case growth in China. I think it's gonna be fine, Ericsson et al or not.

#MWC20 is still going ahead, but Ericsson will be missed, says GSMA. Like it or not, #coronavirus will be a main topic of conversation there. Which makes me wonder what the Spanish government is thinking? Stricter arrival controls will add more problems. https://www.gsma.com/...
