Raising price target on Apple to $270 reflecting incremental confidence in the India supply chain situation that could now take the worst case scenario off the table for iPhone tariffs...and this has been a core Street fear over the last month. China demand improving..key 🍎🍏🐂

I've listened to many, many, many Apple earnings calls over the past 20 years. That was definitely the worst one I've ever heard. Basically nothing was said, literally no questions were actually answered, and Tim Cook just sounded... off? Super weird and awkward.
  • @alexeheath Alex Heath on x
No Big Tech CEO has evaded hard questions over the past decade as much as Tim Cook

@mgsiegler same! Live blogged them for well over a decade. Utterly bizarre call. Just bizarre

Apple: No tariff impact in March quarter, can't precisely estimate for June quarter (current), but estimates $900 million in cost increases in the period.
  • @benbajarin Ben Bajarin on x
Interesting color from Tim Cook on anticpated impact on Tariff's to the June quarter. Estimate, if all holds and no other changes, will be ~$900m impact to the business. Stock seems to be recovering some AH.

It is a tumultuous time for Apple investors, but some good news came from Apple's earnings on Thursday as stock buybacks continue unabated at $100 billion, and dividends are rising to $0.26 per share. https://appleinsider.com/...
  • @benbajarin Ben Bajarin on x
As I suspected, Tim Cook starts off the call heavily emphasizing their already highly diversified supply chain. Also, emphasis on the buybacks, which just shows they and the board believe the stock is still undervalued.

As @MaxWinebach outlined in his report a few months ago on the local China market subsidy program, we have seen continued growth of Android in the high-end in China as that TAM expands for premium in the market. Not a shock more competition is rising locally in China.

CNBC reports that Tim Cook said half of the iPhones sold in the U.S. were made in India.  That's a big surprise—I had expected the figure to be closer to 25%.  The spike in India-made iPhones reaching the U.S. appears to be driven by a combination of redirected supply and ramped-…

This is going to please the Street. Also a good reminder that Apple is shifting production to India for devices coming to the US not the entire production. This means it is about reallocating resources more so than expanding production.

$AAPL First Take: Solid Quarter • iPhone revenue beat by 2%. • CNBC's Steve Kovach reports that Tim Cook stated there was “not significant pull-forward into March.” • That validates the iPhone outperformance as real demand—not timing-related.

Apple reported earnings per share (EPS) $1.64 on revenue of $95.4 billion. Wall Street was anticipating EPS of $1.62 and revenue of $94.2 billion. My estimates, alas, were too high ($1.75 and $97b).

The only disappointment segment was wearables. Missed Street by 7%. Down 5% year over year. AirPods (4% of overall revenue) have become a replacement business.

Apple's wearables results continuing to drag. Upgrading dynamics making it difficult to report unit sales growth for Apple Watch and AirPods. Wearables not being upgraded as frequently as iPhones.

Services revenue grew 12%, essentially in line with Street expectations. That's down from 13.9% growth last quarter, but context matters: growth was 11.9% in Sep-24 and 11.3% in Dec-23. I don't see up 12% as a slowdown—it's a stable, low double-digit growth business with natural
