Tim Cook met with Trump last week, and while negotiating a special tariff exclusion for Apple he offered Trump nothing ("20,000 jobs over 5 years") but dressed it up like it was something real.  It was enough to trick Trump, and also enough to trick the team at Axios. www.axios.c…

Apple has announced it will invest $500 billion in the U.S. over four years, including a Texas factory for AI server production and 20,000 new jobs.  —  Quite the flex to not only match Project Stargate by itself but also committing to hiring when everyone else is doing layoffs.

APPLE HAS JUST ANNOUNCED A RECORD 500 BILLION DOLLAR INVESTMENT IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THE REASON, FAITH IN WHAT WE ARE DOING, WITHOUT WITCH, THEY WOULD'NT BE INVESTING TEN CENTS. THANK YOU TIM COOK AND APPLE!!! Donald Trump Truth Social Post 07:16 AM EST 02/24/25

Nice gesture $AAPL. I have questions: 1/ How much of that $500B is incremental spend? 2/ Only 20,000 new hires? For how much extra spend? See question 1. 3/ How much of this investment goes directly to TSMC? $TSM transistor tech is developed in Taiwan, not the US. How much (if

The Apple Intelligence servers for Private Cloud Compute will see some production shift from China to Houston with a new Foxconn facility. The chips in the servers are M-series and continue to be produced at TSMC in Taiwan. The TSMC facility in Arizona is making older chips.

Apple is announcing it will invest $500 billion in the U.S. and create 20,000 jobs. That's $25 million per job. I smell bullshit. [image]

Unclear what tax breaks are, but Apple makes clear it's already a big taxpayer (hint hint!). When you consider how long Apple has grown not doing anything like this, obv the timing is to align w/US gov't initiatives to kickstart industry. 4 years=many moments to change tack.

It's, of course, impossible to discern how much of this was already in the works. At the very least it's a slight acceleration. But it's very clear Apple is trying to appease Trump here in similar ways to its first term strategy. As predicted in Nov: https://www.bloomberg.com/...

NEW: Apple says it's investing $500 billion in the U.S. over the next four years. It'll hire 20,000 new employees and produce servers for Apple Intelligence in Houston. It's a clear message to Trump that it wants to avoid tariffs https://www.bloomberg.com/...

$500 billion over the next four years means $125 billion annually. Add over $100 billion in annual buybacks, and that's over $220 billion in spending—without even counting Apple's other expenses. How does this align with cash flow? Something doesn't add up. Either something

As a proud American company, we're thrilled to continue to make significant investments in the US. Today, we're announcing a $500 billion commitment to support American innovation, advanced manufacturing, and high tech job creation. https://www.apple.com/...

The news comes following Tim Cook's meeting with Trump. This is a clear trade offer to avoid iPhone tariffs. Apple used the same strategy during Trump's first term: allow the president to take credit for its local investments.

This marks a slight acceleration of its prior investment plans. This is an additional 1000 hires a year and $39 billion a year in additional investment than its prior commitment. It's also opening a manufacturing “academy” in Detroit.
