Nvidia forecast more than $1 trillion in flagship AI-chip sales through 2027 as coverage shifted from chip demand to financing and building AI-computing infrastructure.

Who they are

Nvidia is the central supplier and increasingly an investor, software provider and infrastructure partner in the coverage of the AI-computing buildout. Stories connect Jensen Huang’s company to AI chips, data centers, OpenAI, memory supplier SK Hynix, cloud operators including Nebius and CoreWeave, and prospective computing campuses.

The recent arc

Coverage reached its recent high in 2026Q1, driven by unusually strong financial and demand signals: Nvidia reported fourth-quarter revenue of $68.13 billion, with Data Center revenue of $62.3 billion, and Huang raised the company’s flagship-chip sales outlook to more than $1 trillion through 2027. This followed the 2025 product-platform phase, including NVLink Fusion, which opened Nvidia’s rack-scale interconnect to non-Nvidia CPUs and accelerators, and Huang’s post-GTC rejection of an AI-bubble framing amid projected Blackwell volumes.

The tension

The coverage circles a tension between accelerating AI infrastructure demand and the constraints around supplying it. Nvidia is extending its reach through investments and partnerships with Nebius, CoreWeave and SB Energy, while customers reportedly face prospective system price increases and US officials review how Chinese AI companies may obtain Nvidia chips via overseas data-center rentals. AMD is the clearest named competitive counterweight, while Nvidia’s NVLink Fusion also suggests it is seeking to remain the system-level hub even where customers use other processors.

Why it matters

If this trajectory holds, Nvidia’s role could become less confined to selling accelerators and more bound up with financing, software, networking, memory and the physical deployment of AI capacity. That would make the company’s growth increasingly dependent on whether partners can deliver data centers and whether export controls, pricing and concerns over an AI-investment bubble constrain the spending cycle that its forecasts assume.
