Who they are

Mustafa Suleyman is Microsoft AI’s chief and a DeepMind co-founder whose coverage places him at the center of Microsoft’s consumer-AI and model-building strategy. He previously led Inflection AI, much of whose team Microsoft brought in when it hired him in March 2024 to run consumer AI under Satya Nadella.

The recent arc

Coverage initially centered on Microsoft’s March 2024 recruitment of Suleyman and most of Inflection AI’s staff, a move framed alongside Microsoft’s OpenAI investment and its effort to assemble prominent AI talent.
