Twitter needs to do a better job of protecting these OSINT accounts. Russian controlled accounts are reporting them for fake violations and Twitter has been algorithmically suspending them for 12 hours. Twitter is part of the battlefield now. https://twitter.com/...
  • @osinttechnical @osinttechnical on x
What really worries me the most (and IMO was demonstrated today) is that any Russian invasion will almost certainly include some form of mass reporting in order to disable smaller OSINT accounts.

This is pretty important. There have been some great reports coming out if Eastern Ukraine and Western Russia because of the legwork done by OSINT accounts. Stopping them, stops the footage etc you've been seeing. https://twitter.com/...

1/ In response to the unfolding military conflict in Ukraine, we have established a Special Operations Center to respond in real time. It is staffed by experts (including native speakers) so we can closely monitor the situation and act as fast as possible.

Facebook cutting off data access, disbanding the CrowdTangle team, and standing in the way of research now has a direct effect on the ability to uncover Russian information operating during this offensive. Researchers don't give up but we need to acknowledge this consequence.
