A couple things to note: > Netflix lost 400,000 subscribers in the US and Canada, the first time it lost customers at home since 2019. > Asia accounted for about 2/3 of Netflix's subscriber growth in the quarter.

Netflix makes it official: it is investing in game content, starting first with mobile games, which it'll offer to its subscribers for no additional fee. And the company says it's not interested in major M&A, at least not for now. https://ir.netflix.net/...

.@Netflix will report earnings after the bell and it only expects 1 million new subs — a low bar it could easily beat. The bigger issue is that Netflix is starting to lose audience to rivals like @disneyplus and Amazon Prime. The cracks are showing. $nflx https://www.nytimes.com/…

Have to imagine Netflix's strategy of video games and especially the focus on mobile is “literally make something so addictive and destructive to one's brain that no one can ever unsubscribe.”

Tldr: Netflix doesn't know anything about games but it wants to do an Apple Arcade - casual games with no ads, no in-game purchases - and add it into your app for free. It's experimenting but says games will be a “core part of our subscription offering.” https://twitter.com/...

One thing I will say is that Apple Arcade hasn't taken off for Apple just yet. Netflix's advantage is that it will be able to integrate IP across multiple media formats within one platform. Cautiously watching this. https://twitter.com/...
