This is really positive for both Unity and $MSFT $U Microsoft Mesh is a SDK that supports Unity, C++ and C#. Microsoft and Unity are longtime partners, Unity being responsible for the vast majority of Hololens 2 apps. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/ ... https://twitter.com/.…

Alex Kipman is now demoing Microsoft Mesh IRL. James Cameron and others should also be there too. IRC, he's not behind a blue screen, but 3D-scanned into that environment, which is shared on AltSpaceVR. https://twitter.com/...

.@Microsoft Mesh seems really promising. Global shared MR platform that, like much of Microsoft's #AR/#VR software/services, supports lots of end devices, not just @HoloLens. If Oculus or Apple win on the client, Microsoft can still own the middle/cloud.

@saschasegan I have a LOT to say about this but it doesn't fit in a tweet. Both Microsoft and Apple are well positioned for an XR-abundant future. Microsoft has high ROI use cases today, but is not discounting Apple being a force tomorrow and planning accordingly.

Hearing some buzz about Microsoft Mesh for XR today but I want to hear more about who's getting past the cost, display and battery problems which have kept XR extremely niche. Is it going to end up being Apple in 2024?

Microsoft has so much opportunity today with #mesh, @MSFTDynamics365, and @hololens in the enterprise — and it can create a defensible position there vs. Apple, Oculus, and anyone else. The consumer tech is really early, and Microsoft is smart to prioritize. https://twitter.com/.…

@saschasegan Short version: Apple will definitely try to own the entire stack, but won't cover every use case/user. Microsoft is aiming for Dynamics and Mesh to be like Office for the Mac (and PC. And Android. And web).

I'm a little skeptical without more information about the hardware. HoloLens is hardly consumer friendly from either form or price. I won't call it Microsoft “Meh” just yet while I keep an eye on how it develops. Also, is this another case where Apple swoops in and co lots? https…

Microsoft Mesh is a new cloud service that will help developers add collaborative features like video calls into apps that work on the HoloLens & other kinds of devices. i met with 3 people in an app that uses Mesh while using HoloLens and it was very cool https://www.cnbc.com/..…
