@spatiallyme Somewhat bizarre that Apple's loyal customers who shelled out $3,500 for the V1 device have no upgrade path. I would have expected a *very* generous trade-in for a group of essentially beta testers for the V1.

Apple Vision Pro M5 review: everything looks sharper, especially virtual desktop mode, and the Dual Knit band is comfortable, but the headset still costs $3,500

Apple's Vision Pro with the M5 chip is assembled in Vietnam, according to labels on its packaging; the M2-based model, launched in 2024, was built in China

Apple Inc.'s new Vision Pro headset doesn't offer much in the way of fresh features, but the company made a notable change to its production.

I hope Apple takes Prosser for everything he's worth... and more.  He cost an Apple employee their job (for not securing unreleased software) on his quest to be “first”.  Make no mistake, leakers harm Apple in many ways but this is one step beyond that.  It's strait up theft for fun and profit.

@MaxWinebach Apple doesn't bluff when it comes to stuff like this. If they filed suit it's because they have rather damning evidence to back it up. Sad part is the employee who got fired but Apple takes security rather seriously. This wasn't “leaking” this was pure theft for profit

.GruberGate (as I shall now call it) is causing quite a stir in Cupertino.  This is a time when it's not “what would Steve do?”  But more like “what would the late Katie Cotton do?”.  There's a lot of wailing and gnashing of the teeth and a lot of the arguing what to do.  No one will get fired but expect some quiet “left to pursue other interests...” Once this quiets down a bit. @gruber opinion carries a *lot* of weight at Apple.  Was true when I was there.  Even more so now I expect.

Sources: an exec overseeing Siri told staff the delays were ugly, made worse by Apple publicly promoting the new features, and it's unclear when they will ship

Apple Inc.'s top executive overseeing its Siri virtual assistant told staff that delays to key features have been ugly and embarrassing …

Tim probably furious that he's been made to look clueless.  Marketing is blaming engineering for not delivering.  Engineering will blame marketing for over promising and under delivering.  Whoever put the final approval on the WWDC “demos” is going to have to answer why that happened.  There (was?) a clear hierarchy for how things were approved but I have no idea what that would be today.  GruberGate was a harsh wakeup for a lot of Apple employees.  (I wonder how many hits @gruber Is getting from Cupertino)

Well, there's a waste of $116m. This thing was never going to be a success at its absurd price point, costly subscription model and lack of function. Meta/Ray-Ban actually delivered on an AI wearable that works well IMHO. Humane was doomed from the start.

A small incentive payment from Google to users *not* to use search is a perfectly logical approach to how the government thinks the market works. The value I get from Google search isn't likely to match any small payout I could get. I suspect most people would feel the same.
