Latest Apple filing re. Epic: Apple processes $500m of refunds for contested in-app payments each year; Epic has made $600m on iOS. https://www.courtlistener.com/ ...

In case you're wondering why Epic Games is being so boneheaded and borderline delusional in taking on Apple—the world's most valuable company—it's because in Tim Sweeney's mind, he's building a company that's going to be far more valuable than Apple. https://twitter.com/...

Apple/Epic/Fornite update: Apple wants damages from Epic, as well as “disgorgement” of “ill-gotten gains”, which is a fun thing to type. But tldr is next meaningful date in this fight is a 9/28 court hearing. https://www.vox.com/...

Watch your language, Apple. Dev relations are at an all-time low as you continue to make statements to the effect of “Developers' only value to our platform is IAP commissions.” People buy the iPhone — you know, that hardware you make tons of money from — because of OUR APPS. htt…

In order to believe that Epic is making progress toward loosening Apple's total control over the App Store, one must suppose that Epic is ultimately going to win its legal battle. But if Epic loses, Apple's control is essentially permanently solidified. https://www.wsj.com/...

(Not even addressing the false and disproven “everyone plays by the same rules” lie you keep repeating, as well as the massive elephants in the room: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and every other free app that offer no App Store purchases, yet are somehow OK under this logic.)

😪 Every Apple API you use is a liability in court, apparently. Is there a way for both sides in this lawsuit to lose horribly? Because neither deserve to win any part of this https://twitter.com/...

@stroughtonsmith I do wonder if that wording is there to serve as a counterpoint to the business model suggesting of charging per API call like other services do. I don't think Apple wants that business model.

@marcoarment It's a lawsuit, not a PR blast. The language has to be harsh. App Store rules need to change, AND SOON. But not taking Epic to task for all the crap they pulled with Fortnite would open the door to thousands of other devs putting in stuff that breaks the rules.

@Slasher Wow, epic doesn't even ask for money in their lawsuit. And apple counters by asking for money after getting close to $300 million from an app they had nothing to do with. Like them less and less every day.

Apple: Epic only looking for a free ride Epic, according to Apple, has given Apple $257,000,000 in commission fees in two years over in-app purchases that Apple has no hand, act, part in, doesn't host on their servers, just for the privilege of existing on their OS. ‘Free ride’.

I can't make heads or tails over my former employer's ongoing battle with Apple. Reading the released legal documents is fascinating via @Slasher. I've loved the last few years learning a bit of legalese. It's a system, just like everything else, that one can learn.

Epic's being a dick. Doesn't mean you have to continually throw your developers under the bus and show us quite how little you think of us and the value we add to your platform.

This lawsuit and marketing campaign against Apple, by Epic, makes very little sense. If this ain't a prelude to some massive Epic strategy, then it will end up as a huge blunder by Epic. https://twitter.com/...
