Microsoft had already outlined a major data-center buildout through its planned FY2025 infrastructure spending. Nadella’s comments sharpen the execution issue: acquiring accelerators does not ensure they can be deployed when power and usable data-center capacity lag.

The constraint also fits a broader shift in AI planning toward energy supply, reflected in OpenAI’s call for substantially more US generation capacity. The limiting input is moving beyond chips to the physical systems that make chips productive.

The trend: AI scaling is becoming constrained less by access to accelerators than by the ability to bring power, sites and grid capacity online together.

    $MSFT's Satya is saying that compute is not the bottleneck, but energy and data center space is.  In fact the problem he has is that he has a surplus of GPUs right now sitting which he can't use (glut?).  He is also saying he doesn't want to over buy one generation of $NVDA GPUs.…

    @Umbisam He can't admit it but he's probably also short DC operations teams. They have the money to outbid for power & DC yet Microsoft seems to been more short on compute than any other HS.
