A now-removed unlisted video on Meta's YouTube channel shows Meta Ray-Ban glasses with a HUD visible to the right eye, used for Meta AI and on-foot navigation

Meta's HUD glasses with sEMG wristband will in fact be Ray-Ban branded, a leaked clip which also depicts the HUD and wristband in action reveals.

A few observations - Ray-Ban being associated with these is the strongest signal EVER from a fashion brand for AR glasses - For the 1st time I am actually excited about the prospects of being able to buy and wear AR glasses for daily use - If there's indeed an SDK, then it's 🎉

This is the big breakthrough for controlling 3D environments that Apple Vision Pro is missing. It will let you have eight hands in a video game. Among many other things.

The market is not ready for this. $META about to open a new category on Wednesday: AI smartglasses [video]

The new Meta Rayban glasses w/ an in-lens display are cool, but the EMG wristband is INSANE. Signals through the wrist are so clear that surface EMG can understand finger motion of a millimeter. Literal sci-fi gesture input is here. [video]

The new Meta Rayban glasses will have a heads up display and let you control with a wearable wristband that uses electromyography to detect activity of the muscles of your weird to take actions. $800. I'll def get them if they work with prescriptions. [video]

knowing full well how bad for society these are gonna be I still will 100% be buying a pair and hacking it to show feets

If the sEMG wristband works anywhere near as well as this marketing depiction suggests, this could be the beginning of a new interaction paradigm. [video]

A few thoughts: - I don't see an external battery pack, and the arms of the glasses aren't too thick.  I wonder how power management/battery life is managed?  - The haptic band looks to be directly out of Meta's acquisition of CTRL-labs in 2019 ($500M exit).  - The yellow Oakleys…

Meta accidentally leaking their own reveals is a timeless tradition.

The Luxottica partnership will go down as one of the more influential commercial decisions for Meta - alongside the likes of the major acquisitions (WhatsApp, Instagram, etc)

Really happy that this stays as Ray-Ban branded! Meta is doing great things with glasses! If this goes with an SDK as the keynote sessions suggest, some of us are going to be very busy building stuff for it!

Meta is about to take over the smart glasses market in a viral way. Apple's option will likely be too expensive to go viral, at least initially.

Ah the old unlisted YouTube leak Would of been nice to watch the real reveal but oh well

Turns out Meta's monocular HUD glasses with the sEMG wristband will in fact be Ray-Ban branded! Massive implications for consumer appeal and marketability. Presumably, people will be able to try these out in stores?

One reason why I love shooting video with my Apple Vision Pro is that the camera system is centered on my eyes. Good for robot training as well. :-)
  • @heaney555 David Heaney on x
This design will be significantly more suitable for cold weather and active sports than Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN. The centered camera will be better for many other kinds of video content creation, too.
