This is essentially the first true competitor to Apple Vision Pro. Why? Because others have followed the hardware, but only Pico is currently following the software architecture, which matters more for the long-term.

@samstein >"leading AIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google" >it's the shitty free models (GPT-5.2-Instant, Claude Sonnet 4, Gemini 3 Flash) “Researchers” just can't help themselves can they? This needs to be replicated with the reasoning models.

At launch, Horizon Hyperscape was just a novelty, albeit an incredibly impressive one, and required a strong & stable internet connection. Now it's genuinely useful. Scan real-world places and give people a tour as avatars in VR, with headsets that drop to $200 during sales.

Steam Frame is an excellent headset for wirelessly playing PC VR games. But I'm extremely skeptical of the idea that it's the ideal headset for playing flatscreen games. https://www.uploadvr.com/...

Valve unveils the Steam Frame, a VR headset that can stream games from a PC or run Windows and Android games locally, expected to launch in 2026 for under $999

Valve is about to launch a new virtual reality headset, and with it, a comprehensive new approach to what a VR device should be.

This is indeed misleading. It's the experience people expect, in the age of Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro, but it's not what Steam Frame offers. That the marketing person here knows it's what people want says a lot.

While showing its new Frame VR headset to The Verge, Valve confirmed that it's moving on from its previous one.

Meta's HUD glasses with sEMG wristband will in fact be Ray-Ban branded, a leaked clip which also depicts the HUD and wristband in action reveals.

Turns out Meta's monocular HUD glasses with the sEMG wristband will in fact be Ray-Ban branded! Massive implications for consumer appeal and marketability. Presumably, people will be able to try these out in stores?

And here's 2000 words on Tiramisu, Meta's prototype that combines beyond-retinal resolution, high brightness, and high contrast, albeit with a narrow field of view. It's the most realistic image I've ever seen. And I don't just mean in VR - I mean from a display of any kind.
