Sources: Apple will launch Image Playground and Genmoji in iOS 18.2; Sonos cuts its plans to build ~1M units of Ace headphones per year, to ~100K per year

Apple's AI features keep getting delayed — and that slow rollout likely means that the iPhone 16 won't see a “super cycle” of orders.

@reckless1280 didn't realize it until you mentioned it about the new camera button being in the same spot as the mmWave antenna but they're probably going to use the button as the antenna then, right?  Maybe we'll even get a “let's jump over to [employee] to tell you about our re…

A major new health feature is coming: sleep apnea detection, which will build on the existing sleep tracking.  While Apple has been preparing to announce it, the enhancement may not be available on day one of the new model going on sale. https://www.bloomberg.com/...

Two weeks ago, my doctor mentioned that there's a non-negligible risk that I have sleep apnea, so this would be a very welcome feature.  —  https://mastodon.online/...

Straight up: whatever health features Apple integrates, I'm buying.  All of them.  Every time.  I've been saving up for an Ultra this year too - I'm hoping it gets similar features!  —  https://mastodon.online/...

I think the new iPhone 16 Pro gold is going to be the stand out color this year and potentially drive interest. It looks impressive and not terrible like the early renders. I've never had a gold iPhone before but considering.

There are also new iPads in the works, including an upgraded mini. They're on deck for Apple's October event alongside the M4 Macs.

While the phones will all look mostly the same as last year, Apple is shaking up colors. The Pros will come in a gold to replace blue, while the black, white and natural will still be available. The non-Pros will trade in yellow for white and get new shades of green, pink & blue.

The deeper I get into health, the more I'm realizing that Apple Health devices and services got a great start, but it's being lapped by other companies. I can't tell if Apple wants to provide its developers with opportunities or it's just not interested in being the advisor.

The fact that customers argue whether Apple dropping a storage tier represents a price increase or not just shows the genius of Apple's move. Everyone gets caught up arguing about it while Apple happily collects $100 more from customers who otherwise would have stuck with 128GB.

Shut up is it actually happening? “we've also heard that Apple will make this new Hermès watch face available for the Apple Watch Ultra, which could be a hint that there will be Hermès bands designed specifically for Apple Watch Ultra for the first time.” https://9to5mac.com/...

TrendForce says the iPhone 16 Pro will start at $1,099 in the US with 256GB. There would no longer be a 128GB model for $999. iPhone X: $999 iPhone XS: $999 iPhone 11 Pro: $999 iPhone 12 Pro: $999 iPhone 13 Pro: $999 iPhone 14 Pro: $999 iPhone 15 Pro: $999 iPhone 16 Pro: $1,099

A new iPhone SE with an OLED display, edge-to-edge screen and no home button is in advanced testing, but a release isn't planned until next year. A fresh AirTag is also in development, though Apple isn't planning a release until next year either.
