Okay I'm actually surprised here, but I have confirmed with a US creator I trust that the Black Myth Wukong guideline email is real. An extended conversation with an email tracing back to the company resulted in an actual code for the game. It's not some random google doc [image]

The Black Myth: Wukong guidelines for content creators have apparently leaked online. Streamers who agree to use a game key are not allowed to include politics, feminist propaganda, China's game industry policies or trigger words as COVID-19 & quarantine. https://www.resetera.com…

“Wukong turned profitable on its first day and earned more than $450 million in gross revenue over its first three days, according to Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad.” “Sony Group Corp. ran a sales promotion for its PlayStation 5 in China for the week around Wukong's launch

Probably, China accounts for 80+% of players where with a large game with localization in the region will account for maybe 25-40% - it's a testament what the region can do to shatter numbers when properly mobilised both regionally and internationally in one big launch.

those behind black myth: wukong are not the only ones to try something like this. marvel rivals, also from a chinese publisher, netease, tried to bar unpaid creators from disseminating “any” content involving politics and other “objectionable” subjects https://aftermath.site/... …

I was able to review documents that accompanied several games sent to content creators, which came with a variety of requirements and restrictions, some of them contractually enforced (as they were tied to paid deals) https://aftermath.site/... [image]

A Wukong streaming policy is “no feminist propaganda” so looking forward to a streamer getting in trouble for saying “I think women should have rights”

black myth: wukong's anti-"feminist propaganda" streaming restrictions have prompted justifiable outcry, but on platforms like twitch, similar stipulations aren't all that uncommon, especially when it comes to sponsored streams/videos https://aftermath.site/... [image]

even if you were some weird right winger that was like “yeah fuck woke” I'm pretty sure you'd still get got cuz these are the most insane guidelines I've ever seen [image]

An email sent from the Black Myth: Wukong marketing team tells content creators they must not include “feminist propaganda” or use what are called “trigger words” such as COVID-19, among other restrictions. https://www.ign.com/... [image]

So I found the mother lode of all the evidence that Game Science, maker of Black Myth Wukong, is “super sexist.” The thread has comprehensive screenshots of all their supposed wrongs. I consider myself quite feminist, but I don't agree that these show anything but a group of
