Apple Vision Pro review: marvelous display, great hand and eye tracking, and works seamlessly in the ecosystem, but pricey and video passthrough can be blurry

The Apple Vision Pro is the best consumer headset anyone's ever made — and that's the problem.

Cinema mode is clearly the most stunning part. As a computer, the flow of apps and hand/eye tracking and Mac/keyboard/trackpad still needs work. And Persona is uncanny. Works better in a FaceTime window but it's weird. And EyeSight...also weird. But subtle?

The Apple Vision Pro has arrived, and we've got a game changer on our hands—and face. ⁣⁣ From state-of-the-art immersive experiences to new ways to engage with your favorite fictional worlds and landscapes, to the creation of a Persona that levels up the age of avatars and... [vi…

I did an experiment with @MKBHD where I pretended to be a flight attendant trying to give a drink to someone with the Vision Pro on... This is what you'd see. And yes, he's looking at me. [image]

If you're wondering why the eyes (eye?) looks so bad, it's because they are. I wanted them to be bright and creepy so bad, but the reality is just most of the time you can't even tell they're there.

What's Apple's Vision Pro actually for? Working? Watching? Cooking? Skiing?! Oh, did I try it all. It's all in my review of the Vision Pro: https://www.wsj.com/...

What I've been up to for the past week: living in Apple Vision Pro. Wild, strange, amazing, sometimes unfinished. Thoughts on cinema, computer, memories, and more. Story below plus video. Tip @Techmeme https://www.cnet.com/...

Apple Vision Pro review: magic, until it's not. The big question about this headset is whether it's better using a computer inside what's essentially a VR headset or using one outside in the real world. Here's @reckless's review: https://www.theverge.com/...

It's rather mind-blowing 🤯 (but not entirely surprising) that over 200,000 people are willing to pay $3,500 for Apple's new Vision Pro goggles!  I mean... they do look like the most interesting entry into the VR / goggles world we've seen so far, and being deep in the Apple ecosy…

Soooo if I sell my $8 app to a mere 0.2% of Vision Pro users, I make my $3,500 back. Cool cool.

People are going to love critiquing the Vision Pro. But I have to say, thank you to the teams at Apple who worked on this. Thank you for shipping. Thank you for not waiting forever for it to be perfect. Thank you for all your hard work. You have helped our space a lot.

They made over $699,800,000 from Vision Pro so far! 🤯 That excludes accessories and storage upgrades. Crazy stuff.

Or you could take a fraction of the cost of the Vision Pro and actually travel to where the people are, and see them in person, and perhaps have a nice lunch together, maybe even hug when you part.
