Siri needs a massive reboot, or just scrapped and replaced with something new. Apple needs something like SiriOS to become the AI/LLM backbone of all Apple products and services.
Amazon, Google and now Apple all have been laying off people working on voice assistants, which can't compete with LLMs. It seems a different skill set is needed to power the next generation of such assistants.

Apple's Austin team is quite good. I know a couple people who moved there for Apple. My producer, @grantmweston lives there and is in the AI scene there.
I've heard for years the teams on Siri suffer from infighting and lack direction because of it. Hopefully this means we're going to see meaningful improvements for the first time in a decade.
