Skaugen's 'designed together' claim lands mid-rollout: after the gamer-focused sixth-gen launch in early August and the reveal that Skylake is faster, more power-efficient, and can drive three 4K monitors (per the August detail drop), Intel is filling out the family today with the Y, U, H, and S series spanning desktops, notebooks, convertibles, and compute sticks.

The co-design framing is Intel's pitch for why this generation matters beyond spec bumps: pairing Skylake with Windows 10 gives OEMs a synchronized hardware-plus-OS refresh story, and the architecture would prove durable enough that four years later Intel was still shipping thin-and-light chips on Skylake cores and 14nm in Comet Lake.
