Liquid Glass looks incredibly cool in these images. Very curious to see it on device.
  • @dylanmcd8 Dylan on x
Liquid Glass looking SO good in all these screenshots wow
  • @markgurman Mark Gurman on x
So far, Apple is detailing EXACTLY what many customers have been wanting for years in terms of performance improvements.
  • @oldmanreeg Nic Regis on x
apple: “yah, we fixed all that stupid shit we did to the ui, but we're gonna frame it like we didn't fuck it up in the first place and we're definitely not backing down on liquid glass even tho we know it's shit.”
  • @wongmjane Jane Manchun Wong on x
Apple concedes on Liquid Glass design, compromising for usability #WWDC26 [image]
  • @stevesi Steven Sinofsky on x
Lead feature: Glass knob/slider. Less glass. Less radius. Sidebars going backwards :-) And the basement goes crazy!
  • @samifathi_ Sami Fathi on x
I've seen enough. WWDC done. #WWDC26 We have a Liquid Glass slider. Everyone go home.
  • @loudmouthjulia Julia Alexander on x
I realize we're only five minutes in, but it's wild going from I/O basically kicking off with “anyway, our combined product suite means you'll never need to do anything again if you don't want to” and Apple's is “we fucking hated Liquid Glass too, here's our little change.”
  • @greengart Avi Greengart on x
Liquid Glass is getting refined for better readability and adjustable. Good. “Improved corner design radius” just got a big cheer from the crowd. Nerds. #wwdc26 [image]
  • @mweinbach Max Weinbach on x
On Mac the side bars with Liquid Glass now go all the way to the edge And the corner radius is now consistent across all apps [image]
  • @mweinbach Max Weinbach on x
Apple is adjusting Liquid Glass a little, it's a new material change to help make it easier to read text And there's a slider to adjust clarity of the glass, so super clear or completely frosted

I'm honestly pumped for a software update that's mostly just combing through the fine details, performance improvements, etc. Liquid Glass and a lot of recent design elements have felt sloppy. The fact that “same corner radius in every Mac app” had to be an announced feature is
  • @mkbhd Marques Brownlee on x
Feels like most of the rest of the MacOS changes are small tweaks like quicker app launching, tweaked icons and display rendering, faster AirDrops, optimized CPU scheduler. So, you know... a software update 🤓

@benthompson It's an easy decision for Apple that simultaneously brings kids/teens into their ecosystem and handicaps competitors (social media apps), and looks good while doing it
  • @tyler__palmer Tyler Palmer on x
@neilcybart These Apple child safety features actually seem very useful. Should help parents feel comfortable bringing their kids into the ecosystem earlier than they might have thought.
  • @pinsky Howard Pinsky on x
Really nice to see Apple is focusing on and simplifying parental controls. I know so many parents who don't limit their kids activity because of how complicated the Screen Time experience has been.
  • @munster_gene Gene Munster on x
Trust and safety: Apple spends 10 minutes on new tools for child safety. My take: This is the most aggressive I've heard Apple address child safety. They're throwing out the failed Screen Time now have what sounds like a compressive to manage what they can see, who they can
  • @neilcybart Neil Cybart on x
Apple unveiling various new features for managing kids' device usage. 1) There is growing awareness that more needs to be done regarding device usage among children. In many countries, lawmakers will likely begin to run on a more hands-on approach. 2) Apple is continuing to go
  • @ernestwongbwm Ernest Wong on x
Apple's lengthy section at WWDC on child safety is a perfect example of @benthompson's “strategy credit” [image]
  • @greengart Avi Greengart on x
Apple is providing a lot more flexibility for parents, giving them tools to choose which apps kids can download and now allow kids to ask their parents for permission to browse new websites. Parents can restrict violent content and nudity; schedule different apps. #wwdc26 [image]
  • @vadimyuryev Vadim Yuryev on x
Ask to browse is AWESOME. They can only visit approved websites and nothing else. Apple's REALLY trying to get parents to start buying more iPhones and Apple devices for their kids. #wwdc [image]
  • @mkbhd Marques Brownlee on x
Massive focus now on trust and safety with a ton of child-focused features for iPhone Upside: Much better safety and control for parents that directly addresses concerns about which apps and content they have access to Cynical read: Get your kids an iPhone. Trust me. It's gotta
  • @mweinbach Max Weinbach on x
We'll have to see later, but that new CPU Scheduler should make even the iPhone 11 feel WAY faster No more “my iPhone is slower with this update” it should be a meaningful boost
  • @munster_gene Gene Munster on x
Rebuilt the foundation of Search. They index what's on your phone and Mac, so it has a complete picture of what's there. Mail has a new ranking systems that should make it easier to search in email. My take: I'll believe it when I use it. Apple search is a joke, and they have
  • @greengart Avi Greengart on x
Everything in MacOS, iPadOS, and iOS is getting faster. The speed improvements in iOS27 will apply all the way back to iPhone 11. There's no planned obsolescence here: Apple wants its products to retain value for the secondary market/ecosystem growth and sustainability. #wwdc26 […

iOS fixing wifi/cell switching specifically for bad airplane wifi. Search - rebuilt search/spotlight (something every OS does every release), stable/efficient/comprehensive index, better results for mail Prepare for poor battery life first night of upgrade. (no big deal)
  • @dylanmcd8 Dylan on x
Rebuilding “search” might be the single greatest iOS/macOS update in 5 years
  • @munster_gene Gene Munster on x
Talking about improved “responsiveness” with apps launch 30% faster with preloading key data. New photos get uploaded to your library 70% faster. My take: Nice touch that consumers will really like. I call this the “zippy” test. Sounds like the improved speeds will work going
  • @vadimyuryev Vadim Yuryev on x
CPU Scheduler update will make older iPhones (back to iPhone 11) feel faster. Watch EVERYONE upgrade to iOS 27. This is HUGE! #wwdc [image]
  • @stevesi Steven Sinofsky on x
Faster: 30% faster launch Photos appear 70% faster 80% faster photo transfer (will airdrop work?) 5x faster USB xfer Better “CPU scheduler” ios27 -> iPhone 11 and later (!!)
  • @munster_gene Gene Munster on x
They're going over macOS look and feel updates. My take: None event.
