The Siri chatbot is known internally as Campos. It'll be likely be powered by Gemini running on Google's own TPUs and cloud infrastructure, meaning it's a far more powerful model than the one coming to Siri this spring and running on Apple's servers.

Apple was previously reluctant and intentionally shied away from launching a chatbot, saying in interviews that it wasn't interested in the concept. But ChatGPT, now with well over 800 million users, and Gemini proved that Apple needed to quickly move in this direction.
