Last time Facebook did a forced logout of everyone, it was hacked, where adversaries leveraged a bug with the View-As feature. In a few hours, we will find out if all the messages you sent to your girlfriend when you were 16 will be released for all of us to read.

This seems like a pretty significant design flaw to have Quest hardware contingent on Meta's centralized servers working, otherwise it completely bricks the device. It looks like devices are now online again. 1st image from @uploadvr. 2nd image is me having to reconnect my Quest.…

The weird thing about this situation is that Quest headsets do not require an internet connection to function. They do work offline.

This is a very specific and weird kind of issue, where either the server has told the device to sign out or the client no longer thinks the login is valid. It's as if you've clicked “sign out” in the headset settings.
