Sounds to me like x64 emulation will move to a Fission-like approach (One-time recompile + JIT/interpreter backup) ARM64X and ARM64EC are probably being used too [image]

@IdleSloth84_ I don't think ARM -> PowerPC (x360) would work easily and if they are talking about forward compatibility and also bc - the only solution will be x86 Zen 6 CPUs 2026. [image]

Microsoft is confident Windows on Arm could finally beat Apple [link] it only beats apple without a fan and vents, but that is only in processor speed which is a marginal benefit. The real benefit to ARM is in software and that is where Windows evolution needed to go. It isn't …

A: I don't believe them. B: It doesn't matter, because Rosetta 2 is basically done at this point. Unlike Windows on Arm, most of us on macOS are already not relying on emulated Arm apps. The transition is basically done... where Win32 is the ghost of x86 forever haunting WoA.

PCWorld isn't a Mac house, but there's some reporting today that says that Microsoft believes that the Snapdragon X Elite will be faster than the Mac. No surprise there, really, but here's the Qualcomm slide that supports that. [image]
