From July 11 through July 13, 2026, three articles confirmed four separate claims about Apple and OpenAI, producing 12 claim-article marks. On August 2, eight claims first seen in December 2014 were still pending after at least 4,246 days.
Q3-to-date preserved Q2’s five-to-one mix
Q2 2026 carried 5,262 confirmation records against 1,045 rumors, plus 98 denials and 97 failures.

Q3 through August 2 carried 3,176 confirmations against 601 rumors, plus 44 denials and 54 failures. Because Q3 was incomplete, the raw totals did not establish acceleration.
The 0.3 gap left the normalized mix nearly unchanged. Denials plus failures equaled 18.7% of the rumor count in Q2 and 16.3% in Q3 to date.
The ratios describe allocation: both periods contained roughly five confirmation records for every rumor record. They do not measure whether any individual rumor converted.
Three articles produced 12 marks
Chang Liu left Apple for OpenAI’s hardware division. Apple alleged that Liu took materials, filed a lawsuit against OpenAI and appeared in reports describing strain between hardware chief Tang Tan and his former boss, John Ternus.
All four claims first appeared on July 11 and last appeared on July 13. Each carried the same three articles, yielding 12 claim-article marks.
The 12 marks represented four scored relationships inside one personnel conflict.
A Circle cluster multiplied the same way. Regulatory approval to establish a national digital-currency trust bank produced one record for the approval and another for the institutional custody services it enabled. Both records appeared in two articles from July 11 to July 12, producing four marks from one regulatory act.
Equal adverse totals hid unequal outcomes
Denial and failure were nearly equal in Q2, at 98 and 97. Failure led in Q3 through August 2, at 54 against 44 denials.
Alibaba’s August 1 statement denied that its computing-power agreement with Moonshot involved Nvidia H200 chips. The denial’s scope stopped at the chip detail; the computing-power agreement remained.
A federal judge denied xAI’s request to halt Minnesota’s nudify-app law. Records dated August 1 and August 2 both scored that ruling, so two marks represented one failed motion.
AWS’s statement that it would lack sufficient capacity to meet demand entered as an operational failure. The three adverse outcomes therefore encoded a rebutted detail, a lost motion and a capacity shortfall.
The 2014 cohort mixed plans, leaks and hypotheticals
Eight claims remained pending from two consecutive dates in December 2014. Five had aged 4,247 days and three had aged 4,246, identifying a shared two-day cohort.
The December 16 records covered Samsung’s reported talks with LoopPay, Bose’s supposed streaming service, Google’s discussions with retailers over a “Buy Now” button and free two-day shipping, uncertainty over a Pirate Bay relaunch, and a conditional legal view that Sony would probably lose if it sued media organizations for publishing stolen data.
The December 17 records added three Snapchat claims from leaked Sony emails: acquisitions of Scan.me for $50 million and AddLive for $30 million, plus a planned music feature.
The eight records divide into three forms: four unannounced plans or talks, two leaked-email acquisition claims phrased as completed, and two contingent questions. The plans-and-talks records could remain pending without a public cancellation. The two Snapchat acquisition claims received no later closing article in the scored channel, while the Pirate Bay uncertainty and Sony hypothetical specified no single terminal event.
The oldest claim had reached 23.6 times the 180-day pending threshold. At that multiple, age adds no scored evidence for or against the proposition.
Only a closing mark changes the score
Each of the three July articles carried all four Apple–OpenAI claims, yielding 12 closing marks from one conflict. The eight December claims accumulated at least 4,246 days without one. Three articles printed closing marks; 4,247 days produced none.
