Why it matters

If this trajectory continues, Kubernetes’ significance will increasingly lie less in the orchestration software itself than in the control planes, management layers and infrastructure businesses built around it. The Mirantis deal and the OpenAI outage indicate that reliability and governance can affect both AI-scale operations and corporate strategy, though the corpus does not establish whether consolidation will simplify this ecosystem or deepen dependence on specialized operators.
