Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded posthumously to #SteveJobs! This is such a richly-deserved honor for a friend, a mentor & someone whose vision, imagination & creativity changed the world. https://twitter.com/...

The White House announced Biden will posthumously award Steve Jobs the Prez Medal of Freedom The award recognizes people who made “an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the US, world peace, cultural or other significant endeavors.” Ummm h…

Among other technologists not yet honored with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, BASIC creators John Kemeny and Tom Kurtz would be great picks.

Also, even if you want to argue iPhones, Macs, etc are a “especially meritorious contribution,” why do you give a CEO the award? If you want to award tech, then give a tech award that goes to the actual engineers or something.

@harrymccracken Also, without being snarky but to put Jobs in the same category as war hero John McCain seems to be somewhat off to me. There are others at Apple who actually did the work, like Woz who would be more appropriate.

@CarlaSchroder Might have been all the Superfund sites he had us work on too. That guy was probably marinated in hazardous waste fumes.

This guy? [Links to her April 3 tweet quoting Gawker: “Remember that time Steve Jobs called a @nytimes reporter a “Slime Bucket”?"]

@ashleygjovik oh barf. Jobs was a creepy psychopath, who died sooner than he might have because he thought he was smarter than his doctors.

He was the best at telling other people to build things. But seriously, without him I think Woz would probably have been more like Linus Torvalds. https://twitter.com/...

Jobs definitely put a dent in the universe. https://twitter.com/...

Steve Jobs (posthumously) will receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom “His vision, imagination and creativity led to inventions that have, and continue to, change the way the world communicates—” https://www.whitehouse.gov/...
