Researchers: Elon Musk, who vowed to defeat Twitter's “spam bots or die trying”, has long benefited from “fanbots” boosting Tesla shares and deriding critics

official surveillance video of the states themselves—Facebook and YouTube would take them down as “misinformation.” You can see right away what they're terrified of—not misinformation but rather information! #2000Mules @diazbriseno : There's a Mexican verb for what Musk does here: cantinflear https://twitter.com/... Patrick Shriver / @pschwarzenegger : The pump fake hand shake in the beginning is so good https://twitter.com/... Angelo Carusone / @goangelo : 1/ This is bizarre and self destructive for the commission and goals of regulation passed. The deal isn't done yet and Musk mired in controversy. The EU basically ignores all evidence and instead gives musk a little stamp of approval. https://twitter.com/... Jillian Deutsch / @deutschjill : Musk and the EU's content rules are actually quite aligned on certain issues. Musk wants algorithms to be more transparent, and the EU's content rules would force platforms to open algorithms up to regulators, academics. E Rosalie / @novelsci : Of all the claims I've heard from Mr Musk, that he would ban bots was the most curious. You don't have to be an expert or to study this to know he's been a major beneficiary. As it is, I have studied it. Perhaps he feels he can stop it because he know precisely how it's done. https://twitter.com/... Mark Di Stefano / @markdistef : Musk rolls out red carpet for one of Europe's top anti-big tech regulators and nods along awkwardly that he's “exactly aligned” on the digital services act. Which is..... a very very stringent set of rules about moderating content and speech. https://twitter.com/... @unscriptedmike : Zuckerberg bought mules to steal an election. Elon bought Twitter to restore freedom. Jason Kint / @jason_kint : 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 Musk endorses DSA in major major regulator's tweet. I mean DSA is a solid step forward for civil society but if I were a platform built almost entirely on passively moderated user-gen posts with a new owner who wants to eliminate nearly all moderation, I would 🤯. https://twitter.com/...

If our twitter bid succeeds, we will defeat the spam bots or die trying!

Where things will really be interesting is whether the EU goes hard against harmful content and starts telling companies to down-rank certain content and change algorithms. We're not sure yet how much they will.

If I were to post videos of mules stuffing ballot boxes—official surveillance video of the states themselves—Facebook and YouTube would take them down as “misinformation.” You can see right away what they're terrified of—not misinformation but rather information! #2000Mules

Um. So, the #DSA requires websites to remove all sorts of legal content. So... it sounds like Musk no longer agrees that the 1st Amendment should guide his content moderation decisions. Or, once again, he just doesn't understand any of the important nuances here. https://twitter.…

So Elon is not a free speech maximalist... he is just another dude who will decide what constitutes protected speech and what doesn't. What is one person spam is another's speech. He should not stop spam but give people tools to choose to engage with spam. https://twitter.com/...

Elon Musk has promised to clean up Twitter by showing the world why it boosts some tweets above others and purging it of automated accounts. But Musk himself has been a beneficiary of mechanized boosting, researchers say. https://www.washingtonpost.com/ ...
