  I'd be curious to see if Apple can update the current AirPods with lossless support through a firmware update and some funky off-spec Bluetooth radio work. It feels like the AirPods Max at least could be offered USB audio through a Lightning cable, truly lossless

  Everyone jumping the gun on airpods max not supporting lossless over Bluetooth when high end options like LDAC don't either. The important thing here is we could potentially get a bump over wireless (512KB-1024) which would be HUGE.

  This is not surprising unless you don't understand codecs AirPods Max were designed to use. Doesn't really matter, tbh. AAC is an excellent file format and AirPods Max will continue to sound great—better with Spatial Audio (if you're into that). https://twitter.com/...
