OpenAI's Sora 2 generates copyright infringing content, including numerous AI-generated clips featuring SpongeBob, Pokémon, Mario, Rick and Morty, and Star Wars

Within moments of opening OpenAI's new AI slop app Sora, I am watching Pikachu steal Poké Balls from a CVS.

Just found out if you try to delete your Sora app account you will lose your chatgpt account and be banned forever from signing up again. [image]

Every clip I've seen of Sora 2 has lead me to these exact conclusions. 1) Sora 2 is an incredible waste of everything in every way imaginable. Just pure garbage. 2) This thing is such a blatant copyright infringement on...everything...that it surely can't be ignored. Right?

I am not going to be posting a ton of these or anything but just to get extent of the capabilities and copyright violations of Sora 2, here's Zagreus riding a scooter through hell (sound on) [video]

I'm learning that OpenAI is essentially advertising the ability to create kind of realistic looking deepfakes of people getting arrested www.garbageday.email/p/a-slightly...

AI-based feeds are scary. I won't deny that I felt some concern when I first learned we were releasing Sora 2. That said, I think the team did the absolute best job they possible could in designing a positive experience. Compared to other platforms, I find myself scrolling way

I share a similar mix of worry and excitement. Sora 2 is technically amazing but it's premature to congratulate ourselves on avoiding the pitfalls of other social media apps and deepfakes. I'm happy with a number of aspects: visible watermarking when exporting, real humans

Sora 2 is out! I'm incredibly impressed that despite Sora 1 setting a ridiculous bar — as the largest jump in video capability basically ever — Sora 2 somehow matches up here. For people that played around a lot with Sora 1, it didn't feel clear that Sora really ‘understood’

There are many legit reasons to be concerned about video generation tech IMO. But conflating video generation as a whole with slop is a mistake, just as it was with text generation. “Not all generated videos” but unironically, and the distinction is important.

this new OpenAI video app is going to be a thing very fast. people need to brace for how scary-quickly the verisimilitude of using your likeness in videos is improving if my middle-aged peer group can't tell i posted an AI selfie video, Facebook boomers are defenseless

Meta shares should be down a lot more than 2% on Sora disruption risk [image]

Man, imagine being Mark Zuckerberg, spending billions to build a slop machine, only for another slop machine to out-slop you just days later.

Started using the Sora app and it's like TikTok for AI generated videos.  —  I used to think it would take a year or two for AI videos to become as popular as influencer content on social media but I can see this app causing that to happen by the end of the year.

I've spent too much time on OpenAI's invite-only Sora social media app since it came out yesterday and IT'S REALLY WEIRD. @techcrunch.com  —  techcrunch.com/2025/10/01/o...
