Netflix used GenAI for a building collapse scene, claiming it took 1/10th the time of traditional VFX and otherwise the scene wouldn't have fit in the show's budget.  —  Why is this even news?  After seeing what Google Veo can do from text prompts, any studio ignoring AI now is j…

$NFLX Q2 earnings.  They beat on EPS and Revenue, generated $2.2 billion in free cash flow in the quarter, they're raised revenue guidance to grow 17.3% revenue in Q3.  They do not say subscriber numbers, but they're seeing “continued growth in members”.  First impressions is a s…

Wow, also pretty significant drop-off in viewership for Cocomelon, which is what Netflix execs said when the show went to Disney. Still a strong performer by all means, but doesn't show up until the hundreds vs having three or four seasons in Top 100 in 2024 H2.

Wow, Dept Q was is a Top 35 most watched title on Netflix in H1 despite being released right at the end of May (about 30 days before cut off). Impressive! Between Baby Reindeer last year, and Adolescence/Dept Q this year, good U.K. showing for Netflix globally. [image]

Afraid we very rarely watch any TV these days.  Do still have Netflix but recently tried to watch something & the number of ads was ridiculous for a paid services so may drop it.

Not to jinx it, but I've recently started back on Netflix, & they are way more gentle with the ads than Hulu/Disney+.  —  That being said, Netflix drained my iPad in just a few hours while Hulu/D+ do not.  —  What's my point?  Huh.  If you really thought I had an actual point, yo…

I've had Netflix for over 10 years, but I'm seriously considering cancelling. The amount of ads is simply getting ridiculous. Yesterday, we had 5 minutes' worth of ads in a 20-minute episode TWICE. Why am I paying for the privilege of a ruined viewer experience?
