Eric Trump says the TRUMP memecoin team and Magic Eden have canceled the $TRUMP Wallet; Trump's World Liberty Financial reportedly sent them a cease-and-desist

- Earlier this week, Magic Eden and the $TRUMP token project announced a forthcoming “official” wallet and trading app.

The Block Jason Shubnell

Context & Ripple Effects

The wallet plan emerged as a proposed “official” product from Magic Eden and the TRUMP token team, but Trump family members had already disavowed involvement in the launch. The reported intervention by World Liberty Financiala cease-and-desist over the proposed wallet—turns that public ownership dispute into a cancelled product.

The conflict lands after the token’s early trading generated substantial sales and fee revenue, as covered in analysis of the token’s early revenue haul. It highlights how adjacent products can become contested when the token’s brand, commercial operators and family-linked businesses are not aligned.

First-order effects

  • Magic Eden and the TRUMP token team lose the planned wallet and trading-app launch, along with its waitlist-driven route to users.
  • World Liberty Financial asserts practical control over use of the Trump-linked crypto brand, while the token project’s claim to operate an “official” wallet is undermined.

Second-order effects

  • Any platform seeking to launch Trump-branded crypto products will face greater pressure to establish which entity can authorize branding and distribution before marketing a product as official.
  • The cancellation may weaken user confidence in product roadmaps tied to the token, particularly after the wallet announcement drew a public family denial.

Third-order effects

  • If similar disputes persist, politically and celebrity-linked tokens may increasingly require clearer licensing, governance and product-control arrangements before exchanges or marketplaces attach their brands to consumer apps.
  • The episode points to a broader separation between a token’s market identity and the parties entitled to commercialize that identity—a distinction that can shape platform diligence and user trust.

The trend: Trump-linked crypto is becoming a test case for whether high-profile token brands can support consumer products without formalized control over branding, governance and distribution.

I guess they realized that having one Trump organization fighting and issuing a cease and desist to other Trump organizations isn't the best look for the brand, even if insiders know they are technically separate Trump entities.
