We all knew it was coming. I hope this adjustment means we get some of the games we've hoped for. Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Rainbow Six are now under a subsidiary with a 25% Tencent ownership.

Ubisoft has officially sold its video game franchises and formed a new subsidary giving tencent 25% ownership and royalties. Ubisoft did so well with assassins creed shadows, they were still forced to sell. This new subsidary is already worth more than Ubisoft itself, with the [i…

OId Ubisoft will still develop and publish it looks like. But now they pay a royalty to the new IP holding subsidiary. EDIT: Actually, articles states even dev teams are moving over to the new subsidiary...so that leaves Old Ubisoft with not much. If Old Ubisoft crashes, the

Ubisoft and Tencent are officially teaming up to create a new subsidiary within the company. > Tencent will invest €1.16 billion to acquire a 25% stake in the new entity. >Contains Ubisoft's biggest gaming IPs like Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. [image]

Well, the debate is over, looks like they are going the THQ route.

So it sounds like they're putting their IPs under a new company since the name Ubisoft is so tainted. Hopefully this allows others to take these great IPs and do them justice

if Im understanding correctly, Ubisoft protects their most valuable IPs while Tencent makes an investment in Ubi and gets a share of profit I think this is a good thing?

It's important to note that old Ubisoft still owns the majority of the new subsidiary, and the value is consolidated into the parent. But it's still a neat move to increase value and have a sort of escape capsule ready of sorts.

All they had to do was make a mediocre AC game set in Japan, without shoving woke nonsense down our throats. Instead, they made Johnny Somali Simulator - and now China owns a 1/4 stake in Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Siege. They literally want to lose everything.

So it's a kind of preemptory bankruptcy reorg for the benefit of old Ubi's creditors. This could work, but is not likely to be great for the operating infrastructure of old Ubi. I'll see if I can't give a more substantial talk on this soon but probably not today.

So let me get this right: - AC, Far Cry and R6 are now in a subsidiary Ubisoft company backed 25% by Tencent (More investment for the top 3 franchises) - Main Ubisoft is still working on IPs such as Ghost Recon, The Division and new IPs So basically the strongest IPs are now [ima…

Lol, lmao. There's a reason why Ubisoft keeps bragging about player numbers (massively inflated by their subscription service) instead of sales. This is for you Ubishills, you better start reading [image]

I think this is a positive. Full creative control still with bigger budgets, but I feel for the devs outside of the studios behind AC, Far Cry and R6. This just sounds like they took their most succesful IPs and left all the rest behind...

It didn't matter how well AC Shadows sold, because they already had a sweet deal lined up with Tencent to save the company...the sales just fixed the final price and wasn't too much of a swing. But it definitely sounds like Ubisoft will be doing a big re-org. Potential layoffs.

Ubisoft sells off. All Assassin's Creed was doing was setting the sale price of the IP to the new subsidiary co-owned by Tencent. The deal was rumored to be pending before launch. This is how it works: 1) Create new subsidiary co-owned by both Ubi and Tencent. 2) Assign

AAAA% happening. Too big, too many employees, too much management, and no shot Tencent would have agreed to the deal if it didn't involve that new subsidiary being substantially smaller. You're coping if you don't think names aren't already being checked off a list.

It's a very slick move by Ubisoft to create an IP holding company (which isn't a listed public entity). Ubisoft likely wasn't even paid in cash for the IPs. Instead they received shares in the new company in trade for assigning the games over to it. The only cash came from [image…

So Ubisoft lives on, as predicted. Tencent was never going to let it die out. The AC and Rainbow six IP's are worth too much. If you're wondering what this means for the consumer..well nothing lol. Ubisoft still has creative control of everything so to us it's just another day
