It would be a silly reason, but for real ‘rule of law’ folks, the extra legal extensions of the applicability of an active law *is* in my view worthy of an impeachment discussion. (But no one's going to fight that hard about TikTok)

@GameOverThirty @ZhugeEX Yes. The first thing Apple will do as part of this is seek an injunction/stay pending their appeal. Since I think the order is pretty clearly overreaching I would anticipate Apple winning the appeal (in substantial part), but getting a stay is a closer question.

So it's a kind of preemptory bankruptcy reorg for the benefit of old Ubi's creditors. This could work, but is not likely to be great for the operating infrastructure of old Ubi. I'll see if I can't give a more substantial talk on this soon but probably not today.

The expectation was that certain games would be enhanced. The suggestion now (such as it is) is that they intend to sell them to us. Could be okay, could be a ripoff; depends on method/price.

Said another way, based on what we knew of the LOI, this is best read as Kadokawa fending Sony off. It doesn't mean it's not important. It does mean that the LOI wasn't likely anywhere near what K needed on price.

Thanks everyone for messaging me on this. I may do a video, but if you've been watching/listening to me you'll know that I always thought that Google had a tougher case to win owing to the third party contracts they (and not Apple) needed to control their ecosystem.
