Apple earnings sound less good this quarter.  I don't mean the results are worse, I just mean everything sounds better when former CFO Luca Maestri says it.

Wearables, home, and accessories isn't an area of free money but it's one with huge profit potential so I expect more serious investment here over the next 24 months (which it sounds like is already happening internally) [embedded post]

Wow—Apple just hit 1 billion subscriptions and nearly $100B in services revenue! iPhone sales may be slowing, but Services is booming, growing 14% year-over-year.  From Arcade to iCloud, engagement is at an all-time high.  Meanwhile, regulators are still circling, but Apple's hol…

Cook says the new Siri — previously expected for iOS 18.4 in April — will come over the “next several months.” Unclear if this is his language or a delay.

Pretty clear now why there's a new iPad Air coming just a year after the last model but no new iPad Pro. The iPad Air is clearly a hit. It's hard to beat the $799 model with a 13 inch screen and M2. Quite the deal.

On iPhone trajectory, this question on room for form-factor innovation is telling. I've been clear, hardware designs/innovation drive upgrade cycles, not software. @tim_cook believes there is a lot of room for that hardware innovation in smartphones. [image]

$AAPL CEO: “...my point earlier was that markets where we had rolled out Apple Intelligence during the Q1 period performed better on a YoY basis than the markets where we had not. That gives us a positive indicator that we were pleased with.”

“We have great results in a number of emerging markets, particularly keen in India 🇮🇳. We are opening four new stores there. The iPhone was the top-selling model in India for the quarter. It is the second-largest smartphone market in the world and the second for PCs. ” @tim_cook …

Apple has now mentioned multiple times that the 15% growth in the iPad is primarily due to the iPad Air and lower-end iPads, not the iPad Pro, which is priced like a Mac.

$AAPL CEO was asked about the impact of DeepSeek: “In general, innovation that drives efficiency is a good thing. That's what you see in our model—our tight integration of silicon and software, which I believe will continue to serve us very well.” [image]

Another positive datapoint on March: Cook says the next round of Apple Intelligence language rollouts is in April, which falls in Q3. This means the March guide does not account for the benefit of incremental Apple Intelligence regions.
