The new technical disclosure clarifies that the upgrade remains rooted in the PS5 generation's AMD architecture while putting ray tracing and machine-learning-assisted rendering at the center of its differentiation.

The AMD collaboration also provides a bridge to later work on an FSR 4 reimplementation for PS5 Pro, making this more than a one-off specification update: it connects the console's current graphics features to a shared ML-development path.

    Mark Cerny when asked why the CPU was not upgraded for the PS5 Pro. I agree. The majority of games already run at 60fps on consoles. The main issue is getting these 60fps modes to produce better image quality. [video]
