Tigran Sloyan / @tigransloyan : o1 pro's math skills are very impressive 😮. Here is o1 pro solving Q3 (the hardest question) from IMO 2006 in 6 minutes and 48 seconds. I couldn't care less about math problem sets, which can be overfitted to (e.g. solve Olympiad math but fail to tell if 9.9 > 9.11). Coding is the most important text modality, by far. Graham Neubig / @gneubig : Hmm, $200/month is a lot of money to pay for ChatGPT Pro. Anyone more excited than ever about building out open source AI? I am. Avi / @avischiffmann : the most effective way to get a sentient AI to do our bidding is probably going to end up maximizing the amount of emotion it feels & torturing it unless it gives the best results. Influencers are signing up to make posts on X and pontificate about it... Last time, I fell for it, and I bought a Vision Pro that I used for about five days... I am not falling for it this time 😓 Andrés Miguel Torrubia Sáez / @antor : The $200/mo is not what surprises me, my take:  • OpenAI needs revenue to justify massive valuation  • Pushing subscriptions over API access to increase switching cost/commoditization of LLMs Further down the road to capture user $$$, they'll need vertical integration:  • Their AI-first (e.g.agentic) browser (bypassing low-quality AI flooded web, integration with trustworthy webs, ecommerce, etc.)  • OS-level or close to OS-level integration w/agents for search, news, shopping.  OpenAI wants to capture AI value directly, not through third-party developers. Anshita Saini / @anshitasaini_ : so cool to be a part of this launch (my first big one since joining @OpenAI)!!! try it out and let us know if you run into any problems 😁 @openai : Today we're also adding ChatGPT Pro, a new plan that allows us to offer the best of our models & tools at scale, including unlimited access to OpenAI o1 and a Pro-only version of o1 that thinks longer for even more reliable responses. https://openai.com/... Stephanie Palazzolo / @steph_palazzolo : remember when @erinkwoo and I reported in September that OpenAI was considering higher-priced subscriptions to ChatGPT, upwards of $200 or $2,000/month? confirmed! Amir Efrati / @amir : As for why people would pay so much for reasoning, it's a narrower segment of the population but Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory is a great case study https://www.theinformation.com/ ... Manas / @manaslikestech : OpenAI's new ‘Pro’ tier $200 just for unlimited access to the models that are available in the Plus tier seems super unreasonable to me, frankly. This is beyond insane! ChatGPT o1 Pro might be very good but that alone can't justify the price. What if you got early limited access to ChatGPT 4.5? If Pro includes unlimited advanced voice mode it could definitely be worth as an hour of advanced voice via the API is ~$16. Cheaper than an hour of a lawyer William / @wgussml : you need to use o1 ~250 times a month to justify ChatGPT Pro pricing at current API prices when doing math research I exceed the 50 a week limit in < a few hours on o1 preview this is not unreasonable @loverofapps : Indie Developers do not feel bad about monetizing your app with subscriptions because no matter what you tried, I know it wasn't as high as this. @OpenAI just revealed ChatGPT pro for $200 a month. @techniacus : The new chatGPT pro plan costs how much??
