Today is a huge win for European citizens and tax justice. 👉In its final judgment, @EUCourtPress confirms @EU_Commission 2016 decision: Ireland granted illegal aid to @Apple. Ireland now has to release up to 13 billion euros of unpaid taxes.

For those capturing Apple has to pay the 13 billion and Google just started its third antitrust trial and think Meta is chilling on beach, summary judgment redactions are flying in DC courts where FTC vs Meta (US seeks to break them up) and they have SCOTUS 11/6 on other case).

I won't pretend to understand all of the facts in this case, but Apple clearly had a favorable tax arrangement in Ireland, and I'm not opposed to a multinational corporation that made $383 BILLION in revenue last year paying more taxes.

A big day for EU fines on big tech. Google loses its appeal on a fine of €2.4B from a 2017 ruling for favoring its shopping services in search while Apple lost its appeal on a €13B tax bill from a 2016 ruling for not paying taxes in Ireland. The wheels of justice grind slowly. [i…

Best of both worlds outcome for government on Apple ruling. Can tell Apple and multinationals it fought for them but now, shrug of shoulders, what it can do but follow EU orders and take and spend the money.
