Some in Silicon Valley hope Kamala Harris could provide a chance for a reset, after years of bipartisan criticism in Washington DC toward Big Tech companies

Would she bring continuity with Joe Biden's policies?  A more centrist vibe?  A sharper progressive bite?

MARK CUBAN SAYS KAMALA HARRIS' CAMP REACHED OUT WITH ‘MULTIPLE QUESTIONS’ ABOUT CRYPTO “I'm getting multiple questions from her camp about crypto,” he said Tuesday. “So I take that as a good sign.” “The feedback I'm getting, but certainly not confirmed by the VP, is that she

There is a very real possibility that come mid-September a lot of Silicon Valley billionaires comes back to Kamala Harris with their tails between their legs.

Word is that Peter Thiel was in DC as of yesterday. Going to be interesting to watch how Silicon Valley starts to make moves now that Harris is VP

Kamala Harris is generally friendly to Silicon Valley and related sectors. She's prosecuted lawbreakers but also supports tech, crypto, and ‘green’ energy. Musk loses by flatly opposing her since maintaining subsidies and partnerships is more crucial than minor personal taxes. 🤷‍…

A lot has changed in 48 hours. There's a real momentum shift in Silicon Valley. It's worth being cautiously optimistic, but Harris has a clear opening to drive a more pro business, pro tech, and less chaotic platform that works for the 21st century than the alternative path.

A bit that didn't make it into the final product: A few energy folks I talked to said there's a case to be made that a Harris first term would be LESS harsh on fossil fuels than what a second Biden term might have brought.

Many are assuming a President Harris would follow the typical path of a California politician once elected to national office - willing to go light on Silicon Valley and emerging industries like generative AI and Crypto. Here's why that's wrong 1/ https://www.politico.com/...

never gonna flip to a California Democrat without getting a Silicon Valley pivot I'm not sure this really plays as her median voter pivot tho? Gonna need to figure out a whole ton of complicated messaging / policy issues so fast here.

“At least you know where Donald Trump stands,” said @Sen_JoeManchin, the WV Democrat-turned-independent who had flirted for several hours with the idea of challenging Harris and suggested the vice president was both “too far to the left” and also some kind of a blank slate

As VP, Kamala Harris has fully supported the Biden administration's efforts to ensure responsible development and deployment of new AI technology, including the @WHOSTP's AI Bill of Rights and the Executive Order on AI released last year.

Washington's most powerful interests have had decades to learn what makes Joe Biden tick. Kamala Harris' quick rise has them worrying whether they'll get Biden 2.0, a tack to the left or something else entirely. An all-hands-on-deck policy team effort —> https://www.politico.com/…

I'm no Musk fan at all, but he hasn't “backed down” from donating $45m per month to Trump.  The Fortune headline everyone is sharing is bad.  The article says he's denying he ever donated that much, disputing a WSJ report that he was.  Of course, he might be lying but there's no …

the cool thing about lazy “CEO said a thing!” journalism is you get a bunch of clicks when you repeat something musk said, then more clicks later when you're inevitably forced to walk back whatever feverish gibberish he farted out
  • @elonmusk Elon Musk on x
@DavidSacks Not necessarily. Kamala is just a puppet, so they could tell her at the last minute. She'll read whatever the teleprompter says.

About 3 weeks ago, the media told you that Biden was “sharp as a tack” 🙄 2 days ago, the poor guy was basically forced at gunpoint to resign as Dem nominee. His staff weren't even informed. Now they say Kamala is the best thing ever 🤦‍♂️ [video]

This headline is true except there was no pledge and Elon didn't back down from it

I think Elon is too brain poisoned for this to be some principled decision but it's still funny he hung JD Vance around Trump's neck and then was like uhh goodbye

OK, I'll give this a try based on some inbound inquiries. It's actually great look into the how news travels online. 1. WSJ reports that Elon “has said” he will give $45 million a month to the super PAC. Our reporting doesn't go that far, but that's beside the point. But it's

@Noahpinion This is beyond dumb. I never said was donating $45M/month to Trump - that was a totally fake @WSJ article! How can back down from something that never happened!!??

That's the thing — he didn't, he denied the report a couple of times and denied it again five days ago [image]

Trying to reconcile what happened between this Fortune headline and CNN analysis. Did Musk throw out a big dollar offer to get something he wanted before having second thoughts? This sounds more easily exited than his Twitter offer. [image]
  • @teddyschleifer Teddy Schleifer on x
I would encourage people to read carefully how we put Elon Musk's planned donation to the Trump super PAC in our reporting. https://www.nytimes.com/... [image]
  • @juddlegum Judd Legum on x
Everyone is misinterpreting this. Musk never says he's not giving $45 million/month to America PAC, a pro-Trump Super PAC he says he started. Musk says he's not giving $45 million/month directly to Trump. (Which would be illegal)
  • @elonmusk Elon Musk on x
@stillgray Yeah, it's ridiculous. I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom. Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.

Donald Trump got suckered by a guy who actually is rich and not bad at business. Elon Musk wanted Vance as vice-president, so he did what he knew Trump couldn't resist: promised him tons of money. Now Trump is stuck with this odd, unlikeable character as his VP and Elon never
