Intel unveils its Lunar Lake laptop chips, with a new SoC design, up to 14% faster CPU, 50% faster integrated GPU, and NPU with up to 48 TOPS of AI performance

Last year, Intel boasted that its Meteor Lake processors, dubbed Core Ultra, represented the company's biggest architectural shift in 40 years.

This is the Lunar Lake package. Intel executives said it's smaller than Meteor Lake, even including the up to 32GB of on-board RAM. Compute tile is built on TSMC's N3B process node, just like Apple's M3 chip. [video]

Lots of talking about the µarchitectures with Lunar Lake. But it's also interesting how Intel achieved to be 99% process-agnostic with Lion Cove. The P-core database was not build in thousands of functional blocks, but rather using fewer and bigger cells. [image]

Spoke to some Intel engineers at Intel Tech Tour about Lunar Lake's rather small 8-core CPU layout. Someone let it slip that Panther Lake will see higher core counts, similar to what Apple did with their M1 Pro and Max chips. Can't wait to see that! [video]

It is amazing how Pat Gelsinger can still talk about the utility of Moore's law after Jensen's Computex speech showing the disparity. Give it up, Pat!

Intel is positioning #Gaudi3 not only as a price alternative to the H100/H200, but also as a leader in performance (training and inferencing). The thing is: While NVIDIA is shipping 10th of thousands of chip per month, Gaudi 3 is a Q3 product. https://www.hardwareluxx.de/ ... [im…
