First thing to be cut in a recession is advertising. YouTube ad revenue tells the story. Q4 2021 ad revenue was $8.633 bn. It fell to $7.963 bn in Q4 2022 when tech was laying off thousands and economy slowed. Rebounded back to $9.2 billion in Q4 2023. A new high. $GOOGL

$GOOG margin update: The was a one time $2.1B charge related to headcount reduction. If you back that out, margins were better than expected. I think GOOG will rebound in after-hours trading, especially when they start talking about Gemini Ultra.
