GM pauses Chevy Blazer EV sales as it works to fix software problems, including the infotainment screen going blank, which affect a “limited number” of vehicles

I've yet to read as damning an automotive review … Murtada : And they'll start to outsource development all over again........  Ahem, Ahem, cough cough.  Two letter company who tried to start a software company … Robby DeGraff : This is extremely concerning for General Motors's first mainstream Ultium EV offering.  After prolonged time spent behind the wheel … Forums: Hacker News : Our Chevy Blazer EV Has 23 Problems After Only 2 Months Hacker News : GM halts sales of its new Chevy Blazer EV amid reports of software issues

It's ironic that GM decided to pull CarPlay and Android Auto in favor of their in-house infotainment systems only for their software to be so buggy that they've had to stop selling the Chevy Blazer EV until they fix the system.  Car companies are a great example of how culture ea…

Legacy car companies need a software design exec on their board to guide them towards seamless user experiences in and out of the car.  So many new cars are unnecessarily complicated, broken, and frustrating.  It's a strategic imperative because consumers expect a quality user ex…

They're using Android Automotive OS, so they are leaving the infotainment to Google.  These issues are with software the OEMs are, and should be, responsible for.

This is genuinely hilarious and so embarrassing.  Timeline of events: 1.  GM stops putting CarPlay in its cars.  2. GM says its infotainment is better.  3. GM starts shipping its infotainment, and reviewers hate it.  4. GM stops shipping its entertainment because it's bad.  Task …

I think most people know having CarPlay wouldn't have stopped any of these issues.  The point is that GM isn't competent at software, which is why they should focus their efforts on making the car OS work properly for running the car, and leave the infotainment to Google & Apple.
  • @jamshamdana Joel on threads
These issues sound like core OS problems, and not the “infotainment.”  Besides, not like Carplay support would prevent the charging systems from shitting the bed.

Ah yes, GM is recalling the Blazer due to...buggy code (shameless pun reuse) https://techcrunch.com/...
  • @yomikestevens Mike Stevens on threads
Well, I for one am very encouraged by GM's insistence that it can do software better than Apple and Google https://www.theverge.com/...

Bad start for what's supposed to be such a crucial part of GM's EV plans.  Props to @gaytona_usa and @edmundscars for carefully detailing the issues they had with their press cars. https://techcrunch.com/...

Very embarrassing. Exemplifies how far behind some brands are with EVs.

lol what a bunch of clowns at @GM. It no longer supports CarPlay because of bullshit “safety” concerns, then immediately replaces it with software so buggy it has to halt sales of new cars. [image]
  • @greencarreports @greencarreports on x
GM emphasizes that these software issues are not safety-related or related either to its Ultium EV propulsion suite or to Google built-in https://www.greencarreports.com/ ...

I really want to enjoy my holiday but I had to post this: if you wanted to buy a blazer EV this week, you can't. GM has just put a stop sale on this model because of software concerns. What a week. @edmunds https://www.edmunds.com/...

Oh FFS. Not a good look, GM. First you can't produce the Ultium vehicles, allegedly due to inability to get the module-stuffers to work ... and then once they do launch, sorta, more than one reviewer finds fatal software issues with the Blazer #EV. Ooofff. https://www.edmunds.com…

@verge EV manufacturers will solve software part... eventually.

@verge Isn't this the same company that's no longer putting CarPlay or Android Auto in their vehicles? https://www.motortrend.com/...

How it started: Chevy Blazer EV is named the @MotorTrend SUV of the year. How it's going: Numerous early reviews identify critical issues. Chevy Blazer EV production put on hold due to critical software issues. https://www.autonews.com/... [image]

Our 2-month-old Chevy Blazer EV decided it no longer felt like performing basic functions - like operating the windows or charging the battery - and has now been in service for over two weeks for a total of 23 different issues 🫠 This is... not ideal https://www.edmunds.com/...

Edmunds Bought A Chevy Blazer EV, it has been a nightmare experience that has kept the car in a dealer's service department for two weeks with no end in sight. For a car that is only two months old with less than 2000 miles on the odometer, that's distressing.
  • @javiandennard @javiandennard on x
