Bob Iger: The strikers are just being too unrealistic with their demands. Also Bob Iger: Hulu and Disney+ price increases. No more password sharing. You can bet on basketball games through ESPN now. Jesus Christ, just pay your fucking staff, Bob. The greed is on full display.

Missing $AMZN. Given the cost to produce content, this landscape doesn't look sustainable, though streaming is value-add for Apple and Amazon, so they can do it indefinitely if they want to.

Hulu without ads is now the most expensive streaming service in the market.

Price hikes will continue until morale improves.

Iger on price increases: “We really didn't see significant churn or loss of subs” during the last D+ increase. He notes the ad market place for streaming is healthier than linear. He directly says the pricing strategy is to migrate more subs to the ad tier.

Disney follows Netflix on password sharing crackdown (and hefty price hikes). At tech startups + big media, it's goodbye freebies, hello new fees. The era of generosity is over, as Silicon Valley replaces freebies with airline-style upcharges and fees https://fortune.com/...

What exactly are all these price hikes paying for? Because it's clearly not writers and actors

Hulu being $20 when you can barely rewind a show w/o the app malfunctioning is a fucking joke lmao

The pricing changes at Disney are stunning. When Disney+ launched, it debuted at $6.99 per month — about half the price of Netflix. Now Disney+ (no ads) is $13.99 per month. Netflix standard plan is $15.49 per month. Hulu (no ads) is now more expensive than Max & Netflix

It's kind of funny how the entire streaming industry is just a Netflix copycat club.  Disney+ now plans to crack down on password sharing after it rolls out ad supported tiers since that worked out...
