Meta says users will be able to video chat with Muse, agents will get their own email addresses, and Muse will get computer use on Mac and smart glasses support

Muse started as a chatbot but will soon be an AI avatar you can talk with over video.

The Verge Jay Peters

Context & Ripple Effects

Meta introduced Muse in September as a personal agent running in a dedicated cloud VM, then extended it from iOS, Android, and the web with a Mac app that can manage files and draw from apps. Earlier Muse capabilities also connected Meta AI to Gmail and Google Calendar for task execution. The new plans add a visual interface, a distinct agent identity, computer-use access, and a glasses endpoint to that foundation.

First-order effects

  • Muse users are set to gain a video-chat avatar interface, while agents will receive email addresses that distinguish them within email-based workflows.
  • Meta is expanding Muse's practical reach beyond its existing Mac app: planned computer use on Mac and support for Meta smart glasses add desktop and wearable interfaces for the same agent.

Second-order effects

  • Muse's email identity and Mac computer use join the earlier Gmail and Calendar task connections with device-level access, making Meta's agent more capable of carrying a workflow across communications, apps, and files.
  • Smart-glasses support gives Meta another distribution surface for Muse, tying the value of its AI agent more closely to its own hardware as well as its apps and web service.

Third-order effects

  • If Meta can make these interfaces work as one persistent service, personal agents will increasingly compete as an operating layer defined by identity, cloud state, and cross-device access rather than by a standalone chat window.
  • Video avatars and glasses support point toward more ambient assistant interaction, while computer use moves the agentic work surface from answering requests to acting inside software.

The trend: Consumer AI agents are evolving from chatbots into persistent, cross-device operating layers that combine communication identity, software access, and ambient hardware interfaces.

lots of shopping partnerships with Meta's Muse personal assistant basically read this as a giant 🖕 to amazon especially after amzn blocked Muse from making purchases on amzn last week

what blows my mind is how meta is shipping faster than most startups kinda unheard of for tech incumbents

Will Apple release an OpenClaw for normies agentic AI app like Meta Muse by year end? HAHAHAHAHAHA. Nope.

It's kinda impossible to tell you how bullish I am on Meta AI I believe people are still deeply, deeply underestimating Alex, Zuck, and MSL (at their own peril) Billions will end up writing code; Muse is just the start

Pretty wild that Nat Friedman (ex-Microsoft!) and Alexandr Wang were able to quickly execute on product inside Big Tech (Meta Muse), while Google keeps stumbling

It will be hard for anyone to compete with $META Muse. You either compete on the product, distribution or price. $META is really strong in all three categories: - The product reviews for Muse are 40k ratings with a 4.88 score (truly rare) telling you users love the product. - In …

Getting to the point that the AI wearable that records everything and whose transcripts my agents can query is actually something I'd use now. As a standalone thing, wasn't compelling enough (yes, I tried). But as part of a totally agentified life, it's like a missing piece now.

Meta just unveiled Muse's new real-time voice mode and it's coming to Meta glasses soon!! Muse keeps working while you're talking to it. So instead of the old turn-based conversation loop, you can have a long, in-depth conversation while it works in the background

Meta is innovating on the AX (assistant experience) in a few incredible ways: ⭐ Meta @muse is coming to Meta Glasses! 😎 with a custom “hey... name of assistant”! LFG! 1 - A new “create voice
