i have this theory that ant is ~1.5 years behind oai on culture & bigco-fication it might accelerate w growth and parts of it are inevitable, but they still have the opp to slow it down
  • @thdxr Dax on x
i was saying yesterday it's basically impossible to assess this what would happen if they took a hit on their valuation? how principled would people remain
  • @sporadica @sporadica on x
i'd actually be very curious to see a breakdown of compensation across labs i just figured Anthropic was right up there w/ OpenAI, Meta, etc in competing hard via comp packages...but maybe not? maybe the Religion of Claude is enough of a draw to work under Dario?
  • @gergelyorosz Gergely Orosz on x
I mean Anthropic know to pay more than any other company on the market (even OpenAI) so duh If it's about the mission not the pay, pay below key competitors and see who joins even so

Man paying $400k for events manager is surprised people are joining his company for money instead of mission [image]

i got you dario with the sickest idea, try a 90% paycut
  • @evilsocket Simone Margaritelli on x
And the mission is to make Anthropic make more money, of course.
  • @mhdempsey Michael Dempsey on x
I think we're at the stage of the talent market in AI where the labs need to zag to signal …
  • @championswimmer Arnav Gupta on x
Someone I know scrubbed a lot of pro open source stuff from their online persona before applying to Anthropic because they don't like hiring pro open source people He practiced answering “open source = safety risk” for his cultural round 🤣 (He has joined now, at a 1M comp)
  • @mark_k Mark Kretschmann on x
Dario is afraid of watering down his Effective Altruism cult (= “the mission"). All new Anthropic employees need to pass the purity test.
  • @nerdalert Matt Smith on x
Why does Dario sound like he's having a perpetual panic attack?
  • @zackkorman Zack Korman on x
Dario is worried his employees aren't worried enough about the cyber nukes they're making. [image]
  • @ronanchamberss Ronan on x
these frontier lab research hires are starting to become the ultimate character/morality test, almost like a mr.beast type game will you choose the money or the mission anon
  • @zackkorman Zack Korman on x
Grinding Leetcode is out. Grinding Anthropic culture interview questions is in. You have to convince them you're terrified of cyber nukes if you want to get that bag. [image]
